I was gonna say, all I remember is that play Joe Adams made against Auburn where he hurdled a guy down the sideline then beat everyone 80 yards down the field. If that's 4.55 then frick 4.4.

It also speaks to how insanely fast McFadden and Matt Jones were.

Yeah exactly. Fournette and Derrick Henry both ran in the 4.5s. Let’s not forget we’re talking about 2 tenths of a second there’s not a whole lot of difference there. It’s very very uncommon for a guy to run a 4.3. Like super rare

Acceleration is what seperates your fast guys who can break it open and fast guys that make other teams look stupid.

Joes Adams top end speed was ok. His acceleration and agility were unreal though.

Cobi Hamilton might be faster than him top end though. However it took Cobi the whole damn field to get to top speed. Cobi was unreal at track in highschool his video of winning the relay was killer. I remember thinking he'd be electric but he didn't have the moves.

Also remember....a guy who has spent the past few monthd training for the combine and the 40 and runs it from a sprinter stance.....ain't running a 4.3 on the field. That time doesn't necessarily translate on the field.

I ran consistently in the mid 4.8s to low 4.9s....as a skill player in HS. Blows my mind seeing D-linemen running faster.

Clowney ran a 4.53 at 6'5" 255 people are just not built the same.

In the early 90's I always clocked in at a 4.9. One day, I think coach got a little finger happy and stopped it on a 4.8. From that day forward I claimed that I ran a 4.8.

that’s even more impressive if you actually did that then because I’ve only ever witnessed 2 humans in person run a sub 4.6 and they were both about 180 pounds because most guys that are that fast are super athletes who are ripped to the bone

I hate to tell y'all but I ran what I'm pretty sure was really close to a 3.75 40 when I was about 12 years old.

My parents bought a house just one house down the street. We had moved essentially everything except for the tv. I was laying in the floor, watching the Exorcist on HBO in about 1982, and my parents told me to just come down to the new house when the movie was over.

I was perfectly fine, all the way through the movie. Walk out the front door to pitch black, make it all the way to the road, and then heard a noise behind me. I may or may not have left a shite trail that probably helped propel me down the street, but I guarandamntee that was a sub 4 second 40.

I wish I knew the 40 times of a couple of people I played baseball with, specifically a catcher. I was almost always the fastest guy on the team. My Uncle Rico 40 time was a 4.7 on a stopwatch by a coach randomly on Cabot's field one day, but if my 4.7 was even remotely close to legit, I played with a catcher that had a 4.5 easily. Dude had me beat by a comfortable step or two in every race/run we ever had in practice. Spent the whole year trying to figure out why the hell he picked catcher with wheels like that.

When you see speed like that live, it sticks out. It just looks different.

yeah I mean Matt jones was a first round draft pick at receiver based on nothing but statistics. Can’t teach 6’6 and sub 4.4 that put him as one of the freakiest humans to ever live.

How tall are you? I’m guessing pretty short if you ran a 4.5 at 140 you had to be built short and kinda sticky I’m guessing with explosive legs?

Now, over a distance of, say, ten yards, I can absolutely run a 4.0 and I'm not kidding.

I will grant you, I'd need an hour to recover. But I'm deceptively quick when it comes to a yard or two.

If you know his 60 time they have some conversion system but it’s of course not accurate because some guys are gonna have an extra gear those last 20 yards that others may not have. I know they say mike trouts 60 time converted to 40 time would come out around 4.4/4.5 I think which adds to the type of freak he is at 6’2 220

Another note, track speed doesnt always transfer to the field. As someone already noted, Joe Adam's 40 times weren't eye popping, but when he had the ball in his hands no one was catching him from behind. Has to be the most explosive player we've had since DMac. Loved that guy.
