Pretty disappointing season, and he's losing the offseason so far.

Another 6 win season gets him fired IMO.

What does he need to do to keep his job?

?

He just hired two great replacements and now they have to transition in, implement their system/philosophy, and bring in their players. Part of a process that takes time.

And based on today’s intro press conference, Pittman is well aware of the changes needed to improve our win total. The hires and fires so far seem to be addressing them.

ETA: it’s moderately warm. Had he not hired Sexton, it would be less warm.

He won’t get fired for going 6-6. That’s what he was hired to do. It’s where we are as a program. 5–7 and he might get highly incentivize to retire.

Keep in mind our schedule next year is much easier than it was this year.

Western Carolina
Kent St.
BYU
FIU
A struggling Florida program
Mizzou at home
Miss State at home with a first year HC
A&M who is being decimated in the portal and already wasn't very good

It's not hard to find 7+ wins

From what I've been told, Sam was granted a minimum of five years.

That's the reason he hired Sexton.
Big contract and ride off into the sunset after five years.

He gets one more with KJ and then without him to prove himself and the total of 5 years. Unless we don't make a bowl next season I don't see him being let go

Maybe we can get Arkansas state’s coach. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Get rid of Sam and get another chad, that’s the way to go.

4 years ago fans were irate and wanting to just make a bowl, now it’s fire his arse if we don’t win it all. Good grief….fly your damn banners…..

Surprised at the downvotes. Do y'all really think he's sitting pretty if he goes 6-6 next year?

Straw man argument.

Am I happy we aren’t going 2-10 anymore? Yes. Am I happy when we get outcoached and lose very winnable games to Liberty, Mizzou, and aTm? No.

Does that mean Sam should be fired? Probably not. But it’s fair to ask questions.

the eventual goal is always a natty. But where we were when he was hired 6-6 was great. Now where we are 6-6 is meh, 8-4 is okay and 9-10 wins is great. And if he ever consistently got us to 8/9 wins then 10 wins is ok 6 is shite and a championship is the goal. You have to walk before you can run but you don’t improve your program by keeping expectations stagnant. Yes his first 3 years here should be considered a success from where we were which is why he earned that contract imo. But now if he wants to stay employed or earn a second contract he needs to do better and continue to build the program.

It’s not hot.

The schedule next year with what the offense “should” produce just on the ground, is at least 7 wins IMO. Maybe they pull off a win they shouldn’t and then a weak foe in a bowl gets to 9. That’s really asking a lot. 6 to 7 wins next season and he will be fine.

Sam could survive 4-8

Why are these people on this board wanting to fire him? Have you read the crap on the other threads? The dude is in year 3 of digging out of the sewer and is building a foundation. He’s made coaching changes now which will hopefully improve recruiting but lets talk about firing him so our recruits know we don’t support him.

And recruits may well read this crap.

Fly the damn banners and let those in charge know that the pricks mean business again….

Screw this shite….

Is it because we didn’t win it all?

Or could it be because we went 6-6 and lost to Liberty?

Might as well shut down the program if we’re ok with 4-8 in year 4 with a senior QB

As long as we’re staying well within the bounds of NCAA guidelines and making sure not to ruin other schools recruiting classes. If guess that’s as good as winning games

They will play a hangover game and lose one of the non-conference games.

The hardest part is winning the easier games because it just makes the rest of the year much easier. Lose to a FIU then that might knock you out of a playoff spot, NY6 bowl game or prevent getting bowl eligible.

Florida is struggling but for some reason when Arkansas plays them, it is the opposite.

Until Sam takes Missouri game seriously then that is an L.

State is the most likely SEC win on the schedule.

The aggies lost to App State but they found a way to beat Arkansas.
