His brother is on the staff and was a grad assistant at Memphis.
He probably could have an analyst role, but it would be voluntary since Arkansas isn't that serious about football.
I doubt he would be able to tell the brainiac Silverfield anything he doesn't already know as an analyst. Getting the players to do what they are told seems to be the issue.

Arkansas used to be full of former players when Broyles was the AD.

That would make sense if fans were excited about Silverfield and then jumped ship. Most of us were against the hire from day 1. No emotion to it

Silverfield is just not a good coach. His only HC job was him taking over a 12-2 team that had gone to three straight conference title games then proceeding to not only fail to reach the conference title game a single time himself in 6 years, but also go .500 or worse in the AAC half the time. Memphis was worse after him than they were before him and that's with him having all of the advantages of taking over a program in a healthy spot and being one of the more well-funded and highly supported programs in the conference. Norvell, who no one would currently claim as a desirable hire, lost 8 AAC games total in his entire tenure at Memphis. Silverfield hit that total in his 2nd year.

Look at the post histories. Same people that will excuse Silverfield's lack of discipline, since he took over from the last regime... will call Petrino a train wreck for having a lot of penalties when he took over in the middle of the year

Mediocre coaches at good programs do not do well here.

The same one's that say we should be realistic about our expectations & want everyone to be realistic about Silverdong’s ability, are struggling to accept the reality of who our head coach will be for the foreseeable future
Living in an alternate reality whining over what if’s with Petrino or whoever as hc is preferred over actual reality. All the while unwittingly damaging the actual reality with their attitude.

We can all agree that Ryan was an underwhelming hire, a hire no other team was looking to make. Some say it should have been Petrino, while others, including me, say Petrino is done as a head coach, evidenced by the "hire no other team was looking to make" standard, and we needed a fresh start. That's a relatively small disagreement.
We can all agree that the offense has no brains, heart, or courage, and Ryan looks a lot like Dorothy after two games. But we're stuck with Dorothy for at least this season. I won't begrudge anyone a little darksiding or sunshine pumping in the meantime.

A good AD is a must this time around.
We also need a proven coach that is probably past his prime but could get us back to ground zero
This is what Pittman was supposed to do and did; but HY was too stupid to force him out once he pulled us out of the hole we were in. Now we're right back in that same hole and it looks lot its gotten deeper since the last time we were in it.
The recipe to get out is the same. We just need a competent cook to make sure we dont burn the cake to a crisp this time.

You heard it here - keep quiet, donate, attend. Pay no attention to the fact that your AD went out and hired the guy nobody wanted, and let an actual good HC go to do it. Also pay no attention to the guy across the Oklahoma border that we could've had.

For the penny pincher crowd, Morris would have been less than half the price of Silverfield and came with a #1 draft pick QB.
So for half the money you get a top ten win, so Silverfield owes the university two top ten wins this year or some money back.
