Definitely a comparable situation.
Not at all. Cal's adjustment was going from paying kids out of high school to paying kids from other colleges. Dabo is actively fighting against paying anyone. It's a matter of roster construction versus fighting back against the entire system you operate in.

Thing is, as had already been said, the money guys will see the same problems we do.

Do they see it with Chadwick Morris?

One of the biggest coaching hire troll jobs of all time if we end up hiring a nobody.

Only one big money guy backed Chad and that was uncle Jerry.

So keep Bobby? At some point in the pecking order you have to say Yes, which is above the majority of coaches with odds of being our coach

Yes Arkansas will have a HC named in a few weeks.

The main issue in the search falls back on the main issue in the program, leadership and direction. HY hasn't stated what is being looked for in a HC.

You have the workaholic guys who nerd out on plays, schemes, opponents, etc. Are we looking for a HC with these qualities? A guy who can out coach the other side and coach up players to compete on the SEC?

You have the media guys who do the media spots and focus on the local interactions and fund raising. Usually seen as a players coach and a CEO of the team.

You have the in-between who are mixed bag of the two above.

What is the goal outside of winning games? What is the strategy? Is to maximize NIL and revenue sharing to buy our way to the top or is it to take a few years building off diamonds found in the rough for a run every half decade or so?

The names thrown around said to excite the money guys to promise large amounts of NIL funding are not the names that excite the small donation crowd and are ho-hum hired to them.

The names that excite this crowd are seen as having no backing from the large donors.

This is a big divide that will lead to right where we are in a few years. We need a coach who is Kiffin for OM, gets backing from everyone. I'm not seeing it as of now.

I'm ready for the local media to start selling a few names so we have an idea of what to expect with the hire. Basically of all the names floating around are going need to be sold, but this is true for all of the coaching searches, LSU and/or Florida are heading for a huge disappoint. There isnt a coach out there that equates to instant excitement and disbelief he's coming here and hasn't been since Petrino in 08, so Hunter needs to start showing the fanbase he's more interested in getting Arkansas to the playoffs instead of being the head of the committee.

Wasn’t the Brandon Walker stuff already confirmed to be a troll? Idk anything about him

Also VT board saying Franklin to be announced on Saturday. Not clue if it’s legit. Will try to post the X if I find it again.

Guess we’ll see.

Dunno, several national guys have stated Arkansas search isn't even down to a final three. Two in person interviews (Petrino and Stein) and several over zoom. (Silverfield, Golesch, Sumrall).

Those names all sound like a HY coaching search where you start at the bottom and run out time before you get to the top. member the top 2 to replace muss in HY eyes were Jans and Walker.

Depends on who you ask, but you’ll hear from several people that they’ve got their main target locked up. Who that is? Idk and don’t look into the interview thing, HY likes to get feedback from lots of people without intentions of hiring them. He was never going to hire prime but he was the first AD to ever interview him

Idk why people act like Cal didn’t recruit the portal at UK though. Antonio Reeves, Tshibewe, Sahvir Wheeler, etc.

Dabo has still been getting top 15 classes for the most part too. But they have dropped about 10 spots over the past several years since he was recruiting at an elite level before that.

I guess. HY will claim whomever he hires emerged from the candidates and became the main target.

He even tried to spin this happened with Pittman because he emerged as the candidate who wanted to be here and had the full supply of former players.

Interviewing people is fine, using this for feedback is fine, the issue is the names that are leaked as the early candidates project that he has a different much lower view of where the programs are or should be compared to the majority of the fanbase.

He also has the issue of his hires given the sense of the easy low hanging fruit hire. See that track program, people have bitched about buckham and his performance for years and instead maybe taking the program another direction he promoted a guy from his staff. That is easy, but also said he's been fine with how the program has finished in Nationals on a yearly basis.

Until he proves otherwise he's fine with a liberty bowl ceiling for the football program and the only reason he fired Sam was due to potential losses in ticket renewals and donations not because of on field results. The contract he gave Sam pretty much proved that, stay above .500 overall and your safe.

All of us know that Pittman was the bottom of the barrel and the only one that would take the job. We are in just about the same situation now but the difference is CBP wants the job and there's not a candidate out there that is a better coach.

Sadly I think Kiffin is the only one we made a serious run at. I think Pitt was more of a lazy hire than a desperate one.

Kiffin left us hanging and Drink said no. We had a really hard time getting interest last time, not this time though.

Ohhh Sage! Please tell us who all has shown incredible interest in our beloved razorbacks? Are we not, once again, getting raises for some great coaches, and will wind up accepting an up and comer like Chadwick Morris?

Good Grief!

If Drink said no it’s likely because our price point was much lower than what Missouri was offering. Really don’t think we made a serious run at him. Dude was a hog fan until Mizzou hired him

Guess we’ll know once the hire is made

No point in eeyoreing the hire before it’s made
