The record setting qb at north texas is a freshman. We would have our qb of the future along with a head coach if we went that route. It’s worked out well for Oklahoma and Vandy.

Morris is probably a solid hire but it's going to come off as underwhelming to the fanbase most likely.

I’d take Lincoln Riley and wouldn’t think twice about it. He’s still young. Saban didn’t win his first title till he was in his 50’s. Look at how Kiffin has grown as a coach. Kiffin’s teams don’t play great defense, he hasn’t won anything of note yet (I think he will at some point) and everyone here is pissed we didn’t land him last time around, myself included.
Not sure why we write off so many younger guys who’ve have success and assume they won’t continue to adapt to what it takes to win a NC.

I don't think people were as pissed about not getting Kiffin as they were about getting Pittman instead for a small amount of money difference.
Saban didn't win until later, but he also didn't fail before winning a NC.
Kiffin, Riley, and Sark all failed at SC.

BP and not recruiting defense
It’s been said before but this just isn’t true, respectfully.
Defense improved every year he was here.
Year prior to Petrino 2007 = 94th
2008 = 74th
2009 = 58th
2010 = 47th
2011 = 33rd
Not arguing your point against Lincoln, just that for some people (not you) to say Bobby never had defense is a fallacy. They weren’t the best but they were good enough to not give away games that our offense put up big numbers in. If we had 2010/11 level defense right now, we likely only have have one or two losses even with some of Taylen’s and others drive killing breakdowns.
Personally, give me Bobby all day over Riley.

Didn’t Bobby recruit Bert’s best players in Wise, Flowers, Allen, etc?

quote:yes, the only good football player that Bert should get credit for is AC. Jonathon williams was a Bobby recruit as well. And I think Hunter comes regardless

I’ll give Bert credit for speight and Keiro smalls. I think those were his guys. The line was aight but honestly, it’s not like skipper or Kirkland were any better than lineman we’ve had before. The line we had with Petrino in 2010/2011 was probably better than any line Bielema had

As did everyone else there not named Carrol or Robinson. USC job is way overrated in today’s landscape of CFB. 3 guys you listed as failures there all had winning records. Sark was 12-6. Kiffin 28-15. Maybe not to USC standards but any of the 3 would be better than anyone we’ve had since Hatfield and maybe Petrino first stint.
I’d be good with keeping Petrino IF I knew for certain who he’d be brining on staff. Primarily DC.

Someone tell me why Silverfield would do better than Norvell or Fuenette did after leaving Memphis? I really don’t know anything about him.

It's a 600 follower random account I highly doubt it is even remotely credible.

Agreed and it’s highly unlikely we hear anything true until after Thanksgiving. That being said his name gets thrown around a lot and I don’t know anything about him. So my first thought is he took over a program that was moving in the right direction. And the previous 2 guys who left flamed out at bigger schools. Is that a pattern or just coincidence?

There was something that AAC burner account predicted and got right not long ago when nobody else did, that’s when I started following it. It’s probably nothing

Just going off our game vs Memphis I’m not sold on him at all. The double reverse pass for an interception when your marching down the field was Morris level bad coaching. Satterfield struck me as a guy that overthinks the room.

Same.... underwhelming at best.

That’s definitely a troll

I feel like 2014 was our most talented roster I've ever seen.
And people say Petrino was going to fall of a cliff... We might have had a down year in '13, but I just don't see any evidence that talent was about to dry up.
