It's hilarious to me how much people hate this Silverfield hire.

Jim Mora is #5 on that list. Got fired from UCLA and pulled off back-to-back 9-win seasons at UConn. That elevated him that much? #6 is Mark Carney at Kent State, who actually coached at Kent State this whole year and only went 5–7 in his first-ever season as a head coach. They're both ahead of fricking Matt Campbell at #7. Did these people even try?

I understand why people aren't over the moon about Ryan Silverfield. The consensus was we needed an earthquake of a hire more than we ever have. But Silverfield went 8–4 this year. He started out 8–1 and began to slip suspiciously after it was rumored he'd started making contact with Arkansas. He went 11–2 the year before that. 10–3 the year before that. So I give a little credence to the Arkansas distraction rumors given his strong start and his upward trend. He's never had a losing season. The doom and gloom around him right out the gate is embarrassing.

Talking heads are stupid, Espn graded Chad Morris highly. Kirk Herbstreit called him a great hire.

I think some of it is weighted by the program doing the hiring. Mora is a great hire for a program the size of Colorado State. Obviously if it had been an SEC school he'd be dead last on the list.

For everyone's enjoyment... go forth and read UNC's fans reacting to the hire of Bobby Petrino like they just landed the second coming of Bear Bryant in his prime.

I do not mean this as an insult to Bobby P now that he is gone. He is a fantastic planner for a game. However, as the last season demonstrated, Petrino can't make those adjustments any more.

The thing is, given how craptacular UNC was last year on offense, Petrino could very well be what nudges them into a bowl game this year, even with the dead body of Belichick on the sidelines.

Petrino has become the grim reaper of CFB

Jimbo, then Pittman, now Belichick is on thin ice

I’m sure he’ll go feast in the Big 12 where he faces lesser talent.
