Not even melting.

I saw little difference between Golesh, Silverfield, Morris, and the other crop of mid-major coaches up grabs.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but our program is straight arse to people who aren’t Razorback fans. The current crop of high school seniors were shitting in diapers when Petrino’s motorcycle sent the program into its death spiral.

Any coach that comes here is simply looking to pull a Lane Kiffin - get a couple of years of some success - then jumping ship to a real program.

I hope that Silverfield succeeds so that we can sneak in to the inevitable superconference.

Golesh didn’t have FedEx pumping money into USF’s NIL. Pretty sure Memphis had everyone in their conference covered, for several years.

Tulane, USF, & Memphis are the top 3 NIL schools in the American.

Feel the same. People that don’t live out of state truly don’t realize we’re like an Oregon State or Washington State type program to the rest of the country.

“Oh cool, they won 7 or 8 games? When does the rest of the SEC play?”

People still don’t even take Ole Miss that seriously…

If we’re not willing to do what Texas Tech is doing for the next 5-10 years, get used to cycling whatever coaches that are basically a coin flip and likely landing on the losing side more often than not.

You average fan also isn’t going to take Tech that serious. Oregon has been doing it for 20 years and are barely on the cusp of being taken seriously.

It is what it is but we’re probably splitting hairs with these G5 dudes.

Our athletic facilities are just as nice if not nicer than yours, we still have the T Boone Foundation and have many newer projects continuing. Go look at our athletic village, and the best college golf course in the country Karsten Creek. Osu always renovates and invests. Plus we have other oil donors lol. We’re 3 hours from DFW, hell I’m from Houston and many of us went here over A&M. Just wait for the difference in spending from Gundy to Morris.

Mike Gundy was the issue and morally hated paying for recruits. Instead, he wanted to pay the upperclassman first for sticking around…big loyalty guy. Or use NIL money for coaching contracts because he hated replacing coordinators. TBoone and our other oil donors disagreed with Gundy his entire tenure. Gundy wanted to avoid recruiting battles and throw 20lbs of muscle on the small town high school hero which can only get you so far.

Morris was the different one. He won with less talent. Incredible talent evaluator… great at finding under recruited guys… a skill that’s actually translatable to here.

Credit to woopig20 for being early on the Morris hype train

We let Okie lite have him for whatever reason.

The 19th best offense wasn't good enough so we hired the 36th best. I'm sure it will work out.

We traded the 123rd best defense for the 52nd if that helps

It wasn’t good enough to beat that team head to head or win any SEC games so go figure.

You're right man. We definitely didn't just downgrade to a coach that was one more year of under performing away from being fired from an AAC school in his 6th year.

His Bert level end of season collapse already had him on the hot seat...

Everyone knows the highly talented and coveted G5 coaches stay put for 6+ years before they get their promotion, Dale. Come on now.

When they were 8-0 if this hire was announced we would have been singing a different tune…. Just saying… same guy. Maybe we give it time since it’s done now. See what his staff looks like and how he handles the portal.

Not true at all. Even right after they beat us people were talking about how awful Silverfield managed the playcalling. It was one of the only games during Pittman's tenure where he didn't look like he was getting blatantly out-coached. Just look back in this very thread. Even before the collapse no one had Silverfield any higher than the backup to the backup option.

He got a gassed up, fully serviced Ferrari with investment at the very top of his conference and has managed two losing conference records and zero titles in 6 years at a program coming off of 3 straight division titles and a conference championship. People smelled dud on him a mile away. That's why he was never at the top of anyone's list and why Memphis fans are acting exactly like Wisconsin fans did when we hired Bert away.

I think he’s been hired. Just waited to announce it. Talks probably started after they beat us.

I agree Smackover. Smoke screen was Golesh.

I will say I have been looking at their roster. They recruit well all over it looks like.
Impressed with LB and RB depth they seem to have. Don’t know how many will portal out but there may be a few we would be interested in. DL looks like they recruit undersized and build them in the weight room. I was impressed with how their roster is built out. Lots of depth in the trenches and RB/DB.

Wait wait wait… I’ve been credibly told on discords/forums/this forum that Bert was saw as a home run hire.

Same people also said Hunter wasn’t making the hire and he would be gone by October though.
