the media cucks are unbelievable right now. Fricking spin.

He "cleaned up SMU"? June Jones had a better record than Morris had.

He never played college football. Listening to the spinsters, you'd think that's a plus. This dude has no idea what it's like to be a college athlete. And he's our head coach now?

Defense is absolutely pathetic. And more specifically, his hire of Van Malone as DC there.. the dude had never been a DC before. Ever. Not at N Dakota State, North Texas, Tulsa, no where. Who makes a hire like that ?

121st ranked defense in the nation.

And who specifically hired him? Specifically. You won't get an answer on that. It's not the new AD. It's not truthful to just say "the BOT" because the question is asking for specifics.

He "cleaned up June Jones' mess" by having a worse won-loss record than June Jones? That's the spin.

Perspective just goes right over your head, doesn't it? As a concept?

June Jones literally said he didn't recruit his final two years, that's a mess to clean up. Also Jones never went better than 7-5 at SMU, something Morris matched in 3 years. You don't realize how dead end of a job that is.

I think he is a solid hire but I do agree that the narrative that he turned around a completely ravaged SMU program seems odd.

I am not very familiar with SMU but it's not like he took over the program after the death penalty or anything. June Jones did so-so there.

I have nothing against you but I hate a thread on our board where someone is bitching and some other fan comes in. Ugh. Anyway, I know that's not neighborly but whatever.

As rockiee said- go troll Auburn, Harry. I'll help and upvote even.

Melty goodness right here.

I wanted Venables, but this kind of crap is beyond ridiculous.

Kneejerk, like the rest of your reaction. I haven't looked deeply into this, but it's easy to see that Jones quit on the job, two years before they hired another coach.

The list of successful coaches who never played themselves is long, and distinguished. Educate yourself. This couldn't be less of a worry for any real Hog fans.

Has he said he's bringing the SMU DC with him? No? Then why the melt? If you're in business, why isn't Bill Gates or the Waltons your advisor? Pick any profession. You do the best you can with what you have. Not hard.

Why does it matter? Are you planning on litigation if it doesn't work out to your satisfaction? Are you planning on donating all your worldly posessions to whomever did the hiring if we win 12? Could the answer to the question possibly have any less impact on whether the man succeeds or not?

He's an unknown with plenty of upside and plenty of downside. Since we really don't know what we're getting, you can either focus on the upside and give the dude a chance to implement his system here or be a miserable chode for 5 years.

Do what you will. I'm going to be a non-miserable chode for the next 5 years.

you're wrong and you are going to squirm for such a long time defending that shitty cold take that you might as well fire up an alter-account right now. Because, you will be too embarrassed to back track when we win year 1

Yeah I'm not going to claim we just got the next Saban, but I'm optimistic giving his turnaround at SMU, his ties to Texas, and his transformation of Clemson's offense.

Why do you enjoy living in perpetual negativity? Just enjoy the fact that the new coach has neither a winning record here or a losing record. Cheer him on, enjoy the change in schemes, troll some other teams on the Rant, get overly optimistic, enjoy the wins we shouldn't get, pull for the team to get over the close losses, and re-assess after 3 or 4 years if what he's doing is what it takes.

There's no reason for anything but optimism right now because he's going to be here for a while. Might as well look at the bright side and enjoy being a Razorback fan.

Celebrate your fandom, don't mourn it.

Also, Bill Belichick never played pro football. Doesn't make him any less of a great coach.
