I would have been fine if MSU had hired him. If he brings Venables with him you have to consider it a homerun hire.

Are you saying SMU isn't a low ceiling job with no advantages? They're last in the Texas schools pecking order.

Legendary coach Hayden Frye couldn't even win there.

I'm interested to see who he gets on his staff before I start worrying.

Lost in that win/loss record at SMU are some things that give me reason for optimism. He improved SMU's total offense rankings 110 spots in only three years.

Before coaching at SMU he built a title caliber offense at Clemson and he has recruited one generational type talent at QB already in his short career.

I wanna see what his defensive staff looks like. The offense should be capable. Given time.

great post actually!

Do it! Prove me wrong on the field!

But that low attendance pendulum is probably not correcting itself very quickly. If it does, great, but I'll get excited after the fact, not before. That's reality from me. Some can jump and and down like fricking kangaroos and say that's negativity, but they're just typing shite from their arse.

not you, again, I'm saying to you, good post

Dykes played college baseball. He knows what it's like to be a college athlete.

Freeze actually played college baseball for a bit.

Cutcliff signed with Alabama out of high school and had, I think back problems, and Bear Bryant let him start student coaching and running the football dorm. He didn't sit in the fricking student union eating fricking donuts every afternoon while the football team was practicing.

I do love hearing this line though. I guess everyone who didn't play college football should shut up and not criticize anything because how would they know.

Also Harry, to your question about who hired Morris, I can assure you Yurachek had to sign off on it.

So what do we know about our new AD? That he's great at spotting and signing young up and comer coaches. Both Kevin Sumlin and Tom Herman were signed by him I think and they were good enough to (iirc) pull Houston up to FBS from the FCS, where they continue to win.

I think there is a good chance Morris ends up being a good one.

Good!

prove me tf wrong!

But I'm not wrong on this hire being slimy as hell from the PTB's - the whole thing was slimy. Ask a media member to ask them who actually made the decision. Do that. See what you get.

What qualifies you to judge a coach? Did you play in college/pros?
