It’s pretty obvious that the game plan to beat us is to limit the run game and force Jefferson to win on his arm. He just isn’t getting that done. It’s not all his fault, but he just isn’t consistent enough to pull out tough games. Depending on the players we lose this year, Jefferson may be hard to beat next year. He just isn’t there yet.
Can’t bring up espn.com or the app, both aren’t working for me. But at one point we had rushed for 277 yards and they rushed for 75. So I don’t think running is our problem.

They were still loading the box, though, especially later in the game. I'd bet Arkansas rushing stats in the 4ty qtr were pretty bad.
Once they figured out they just needed to double Burks and load the front, it was over.
KJ then couldn't make the reads and can't make precision throws and Briles and company had no other options to call. It was just great execution by a talented Auburn D.

You saw wrong... We rushed for 232 total on 54 attempts
18 of those were KJ who averaged around 3.5 yards ypc. Of course he had some lost yardage due to sacks
Like I said earlier, we didn't give the ball to the rbs enough IMO
When handing off to the rb we averaged over 4.6 ypc

I’d argue we were the better team for 3 quarters but yeah that 4th quarter was BRUTAL on the stat sheet.

We only had 2 possessions in the 4th for a total of 35 yards
4 runs for 13 yards. 2 runs and 5 yards being KJ
We had 425 total yards going into the 4th compared to their 277. They gained 150 yards in the 4th.
Defense shite the bed late and offense failed to capitalize on drives all game

Briles didn’t call a bad game.
It’s one of the worst I've seen out of him in a long time.
Have to agree with RazorBroncs.
Make no mistake, KJ made some terrible decisions, but this is one of the worst games I’ve ever seen Briles call.
We basically started every set of downs with 2nd down because we conceded 1st down with a dive play for no gain that everyone in the stadium knew was coming.
We need to stop going tempo because it doesn’t work for us. When we get a 1st down, we always squander it with that same dive play for no gain to set up 2nd and 9 or 10 every single time. It was mind blowing how many times we put ourselves behind the sticks with that approach.
The east-west passing game is killing us as well. Outside of Burks being able to pull a rabbit out of a hat because he’s a generational talent, we don’t do it well and we have more pass plays for lost yardage than most teams in the country.
Back to KJ’s decision making. It was like he and Briles both lost track of what down it was on several occasions. On top of several read option runs where he should’ve kept the ball and run it himself, the most maddening play was the 3rd and 3 where KJ rolled out for a pass and heaved it 40 yards downfield to a well covered Thompson (?) in the end zone instead of running it for a 1st down and more because there was no one near him. The look of frustration on his face coming off the field made me think he either thought it was 2nd down or that they’d go for it on 4th.

Briles loves to call plays behind the sticks and lose yards on first and 10. That shite doesn't work in the SEC as the conference has to much speed on the edges and we don't have enough of it to make those plays work.
He calls the worst plays in short yardage situations that I have seen in a while. People like him make you appreciate a Petrino.

I've tried to tell myself to give Briles a chance, but I don't like his play calling. We are rarely ever fluid on offense and that's due to his calls.

Sadly we'll have to put up with him for another year before Sam tells him to get lost.
There's absolutely no reason to go fast when you shite away a first down play.

He is a better fit for a conference that values finesse offenses like the Big 12. I see a conflict of interest between a team that wants to run the ball more but wants to go fast and pass. I don't know what kind of offense Sam wants but it is confusing. But I think his inexperience as a head coach is showing as he is experimenting on what works or doesn't work.

Our WRs need to be better too. Several drops yesterday and all season for that matter

Weve scored 38,40,45,20(when kJ got hurt),0,51,23 points in games this year. Considering no one has done hardly any better against Georgia and the environment they were in toss that out and look at what our offense has done objectively this season. We would’ve scored over 30 against the aggies if kJ doesn’t go down as well. And you guys keep thinking he’s some shite coordinator who can’t get it done. I love Barry Odom but it blows my mind the number of people who will bend over backwards to defend and make excuses for him when the defense falls apart but the offense never gets the same grace.

You think Kendall briles offense is finesse? Why because it’s from the shotgun? We’ve ran for over 300 yards in a single game twice this season. His offense is built around the zone read/power run game, then take deep shots down the field. The reason they kept running it on first down was because they felt like our team (kJ) wasn’t built to just drop back and throw every down. That was from Pittman mouth after the game. We tried some outside zone stretch play as well as zone read and power plays the bottom line is yesterday our offensive line got whipped by auburn d line. And Pittman didn’t trust kj to start airing it out and abandoning the run. If you look at the stat sheet though I understand it’s frustrating seeing us stuffed on 1st down so much it. Seemed like we still moved the ball all game. Even running the ball. What killed us wasn’t 1st down it was not getting the 4th downs.

Yep. This is exactly why I loved the hire. He loves a big OL and power football but from the gun. It’s a much better match for us than the Morris system of small, agile linemen.

We still have players like Clary and Wagner that don't have the athleticism or the footwork to be SEC caliber linemen. The offense got stuffed up the middle on short yardage situations.
The problem is it the players or personnel? Right now it is a player problem.

after cooling down a bit, with the right athletes, Briles would dominate most of the SEC...
Odom, not sure as of yet...

What the staff has done with them has been mind blowing. I'm curious to see what happens when the younger and more talented guys come in. St. John, Crawford, and Wells fit the mold of our desired offensive lineman
