Nah it's really just common sense. They are losing a ton of money. Calipari is so smart about that stuff, is that what you meant? Definitely a big Cal guy for sure. For someone that throws around insults in every post these days you sure do get a lot wrong, talk about reality.

Let me repeat myself.they are not going bankrupt. LSU knows this, Ohio state knows this, someone will bail them out.

ETA:And how was I insulting? By calling you a Yurachek guy? I mean you are aren’t you? You’re defending him? Maybe I was wrong about that I wasn’t trying to be insulting. I can be, but not in this instance.

Agree to disagree then, I don't see bailouts coming but when the PCSA passes this week it should be all but over anyways.

Where have I been defending Yurachek? Because I like Cal and what he said about the protect college sports act and not taking out university loans or using student fees to pay for football? I don't really care who the AD is tbh, because I am far more of a basketball and baseball guy anymore than football and those 2 programs are pretty much hands off from the AD for the foreseeable future when their coaches retire in 5ish years.

This also just reminds me of the Jeff Long ending followed by the HY hire repeating itself, so hard to have any confidence in anyone making correct moves. Fool me once or twice yada yada.

Where have I said that I dislike cal? All I’ve said is why can’t we be good or at least decent in both sports? Like bama, Florida, Tennessee, hell even schools like Kentucky and Iowa state do better at competing in both.

I think it is really hard nowadays to be good at football without sinking your other programs outside of just a few schools. Iowa State doesn't have a baseball program so doesn't seem fair to add them when some SEC schools pay close to basketball level budgets for baseball.

UF has sunk a ton into football and been terrible for awhile now, Tenn had a loooong run of being awful too and still haven't won anything. Maybe UF is on the right path in football now to say they are good in both, not sure too soon. Tenn is currently good in both + big budget in baseball behind only LSU in the SEC for baseball expenses. They do it really well Bama too. UGA is god awful in basketball, LSU is god awful in basketball.

We seem to allocate the money for football but don't get the results like we do in the other 2 sports.

Okay well I’m not asking for championships in football I’m asking for winning records above .500 so let’s not move the goal posts. Because also if we’re talking about championships the last time we won one of those in basketball was over 30 years ago as well so I guess by your own standards we aren’t good at that either.

This is all in reference to your Tennessee comment

Also A&M and Texas they seem to be doing well in all 3 sports. Which again, in football all im asking is between 7-5/9-3. I don’t think that’s asking too much

The sad part is we apparently are 3rd in the SEC in football expenses so even .500 is a total waste of those resources. We are 1st in basketball and have a final four/elite 8 team every year with a legit natty shot, and baseball is also 3rd and an Omaha/title shot team typically every year too.

I just don't get excited about the likely hire of Jeff Long/Hunter Yurachek V3. Zero confidence in that revolving door and from what I understand the people making that hire are still the same ones?

Texas has crazy money we don't have, Tenn is more realistic. A&M has never been good in basketball, haven't made a sweet 16 since 2018 and fired their coach just over a year ago in Buzz. And even their baseball program has fallen since Texas poached their coach.

well I hate to break it to you but that’s the nature of any business is it not? You hire someone you think will be successful and when proven they are not, you fire them and do it again. I mean in what world does it make sense to go, “well I know what we’re selling at the moment isn’t moving off the shelves, but I just don’t want to make any adjustments or replace the product because whatever else we come up with probably won’t work either.” If that’s the case shut it all down

I’m not sure where you’re getting these numbers because everything I’ve seen has us dead last in spending. But maybe that was for NIL and if total football spending is really 3rd overall while being last in nil even more reason Hunter has got to go.

Yes but we can't fire the ones signing off/really making the hire the BOT can we? That's why I said zero confidence if it's really all the same people that hired Jeff Long then HY.

No. I believe a bot term is 10 years. Should be a whole new set of blue hairs.

I think what he's referring to was posted in another thread. It was a series of x posts showing the percentage of our total sports budget that goes to football and basketball. If I remember correctly, it showed that we put 31% of our budget to football which puts us 3rd in that regard. Not that we spent the third most total but the third highest percentage of our total sports budget. So, if our budget is smaller than everyone else, we can be 3rd in this regard and last in spending. On the same note, I don't remember the number, but we are 1st in the SEC in the percentage we put toward b-ball.

It was in this thread actually...

Football spending is atrocious ...as in stupid expensive especially for the results...

NIL is also atrocious, as in lowest in the SEC....

SOmething doesn't compute... but, carry on!
