Yall want a bucket of cold water doused on you... Just read some of these quotes. The amazing thing is, some of them are so spot on that I wish analysts talked this bluntly at times.

It just shows how absoluty beyond the reach terrible we were under Chad and Co. There's also some interesting stuff about Briles. Just sounds like there's stuff people know that was never said.

I also wonder if others even know the roster by how they talk about the WR's.

quote:

"It's a total mess from top to bottom."

"What's the identity of their program? Are they a hard-nosed smashmouth team? That didn't work. Are they going to beat you with spread and tempo and use Texas kids? That didn't work."

"Last year was a total mess. They were vanilla on offense and defense the entire time Chad Morris was there. They were the worst-looking team on film in the conference, maybe in Power 5. Confused, out of place, low effort, no communication."

"That they landed on Sam (Pittman) is really telling. He's a well-respected career assistant who is great at his job, but it's hard to find what he can say or do with that program that could suddenly turn things around. They've got no personnel. The roster right now looks like NCAA sanctions hit them."

"(Rakeem) Boyd coming back was huge, he and Feleipe Franks are a decent place to start."

"The offensive line isn't horrible."

"(Offensive coordinator) Kendal Briles is a strange hire. They don't have the bodies to run that system, and he's had chemistry issues on other staffs. That hire told a lot of coaches that Sam wasn't alone in making the decisions."

"They want to score points, but they don't really get those dynamic Big 12-type of skill position bodies in recruiting."

"Defensively they're terrible, but Barry Odom is one of the best coordinators in the country. He can't work miracles, but they'll blend schemes and figure out what fits who they have. They should go out and work the portal."

But Chad recruited the most 4 stars ever one year, what do they mean the roster is void of talent?

We're 5-10 years and another coach away.

Just better hope there's a young, innovative guy out there with connections that is willing to risk career suicide to get here.

Pittman may set a 6 win foundation but don't see much more than that.

Bet Briles is here for 2 years max.

It's the 90s before Nutt except with less real talent and no Nutt luck 10-15 or so generational players that fall into his lap (Cobbs, Talley, Kennedy, Hamlin, Caver, F. Jones, Anderson, McFadden, M. Jones) to name a few. Bad situation.

Yea pretty obvious these quotes are from people with only a surface level knowledge of the situation.

Sounds like they don't really know what they're talking about. We had talent, just lacked the coaching.

We’ve had a ton of roster turnover and lack of player development. There’s more to talent than recruiting rankings.

Recruiting rankings disappear when they witness the first practice.

Per SDS, "the FPI predicts the Hogs will finish with a 2-8 record during the 10-game conference-only schedule."

That honestly would be big improvement considering our long arse SEC dry spell.

Well we knew going into this season we weren't in great shape and the SEC put the weenie to us with our new schedule.

While I would dearly love to have a tremendous amount of success I'd be happy if Pittman does for us what Barnhill did for the program when he was hired in 1946. He didn't set the world on fire with his record but he stopped the bleeding from a long run of completely awful. That let us get to being not bad and set the stage for Broyles to take us to the elite level.

Well... to be honest, they have been fairly spot on with their comments the last few years.
We do have a little talent. Enough? Probably not.
Our top 3 or 4 receivers are SEC level. Boyd is and maybe Trelon will surprise at RB.
Franks has at least got some SEC experience and ability.
That's about it. The rest will need to really step it up.
