I think I agree. It wouldn’t be our best bet for a theoretical championship series but it would be our best bet at getting there. It’s probably worth it just to have a better chance at sticking it to lsu.

You gotta remember, if we get to Thursday all bets are off. Kevin Kopps will be warming up if it’s a tight game.

Maybe we can use Isaiah Campbell to close.

I'd rather have Brett Eibner than either of those two at this point.

I'd take Stanek. I'll never forget the year he had an ERA barely over 1.

I’m with y’all’s thinking on this. A loss tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday night are all the same to me. Feels like we should’ve gone with a committee game tonight.

Then again, the impending rain delay makes all this moot.

I don't think so. That was a mid UCLA team. We would've felt bad losing to those candy arse boys and not even taking another shot at LSU

My god that defense and offense were so bad though

We blew our load when we started Wood yesterday. Fell asleep when we pitched root tonight.

DVH decided to try to ensure that we got to the final four vs ensuring that we had our best chance to win once we got there.

I suppose he knew the offense would struggle last night, but one of these two games HAD to be a bullpen game if we have a chance against LSU.

We could use a vintage 2022 McEntire performance this week.

The rant thinks of McEntire completely differently than we do, it's hilarious.

I’m not buying that the Zach root who held UCLA scoreless through 5 would have replicated that against LSU. It was a success. He went fairly deep, got a little confidence back and he’ll be ready if we get to the championship series.

You have to win each night right now and that’s all that matters. As fans, we can look ahead but as a coach and team, it’s literally one day at a time. There is no tomorrow.

Root was ready to go in an elimination game. You pitch him. No question. It would have been a dumb move not to.

The main reason you have to is because you’ll end up going to him eventually if the game requires it and then you’ve doubled screwed yourself.

Guess we can officially rule Mac out for LSU/Weekend after that 50 pitch curtain call inning ;)

Nice dub, was a pretty odd cruise control type of win after the first inning.

Hope they’re fired up for tonight.

Have another downvote. You have to win the game in front of you and then worry about the next one. DVH did the smart thing. There are no easy outs in the CWS. We have a deep staff and we have the bats to win games. But you can't win a game you don't play in.

Hopefully that's the last we see of Mac and Diggs. From the blown double play opportunity to the blown shut out I was having Vandy 05 flashbacks with DMAC watching on the sidelines as the coaches boys get stuff on the goal line four straight times.

DVH is 0fer against LSU in the CWS, so it will take something he's never been able to do on back to back nights to advance to the finals.

Mac just picked a bad time to showcase his knuckleball for MLB scouts.

Think that “throw” to first was also intentional to keep his career CWS ERA down.
