With the guards spots (maybe) filling up, I wonder if our push for bigs will pick up?
I have to think we'll bring at least 1 in. Maybe the silence around a big man is a good thing.

I think Muss wants to be very selective with who we get for a big. If it’s not a game changer I could see us sticking with what we have honestly

Dunning thought he was returning too. If we take Ellis, someone has to go

Looks like all the smoke is that Ellis will commit tomorrow.
21 at Duke
33 at Miami
21 vs UVA
23 vs Kentucky
22 vs UNC
He's definitely delivered vs elite competition including on the road. He was the #1 JUCO player last year didn't know that.

Ellis is electrifying. He plays at a higher speed than everyone else. But his turnover to assist ratio has to be close to zero.
I really like him, but I don't understand why we'd take another guard over a big, regardless of who it is. If we even take another big, my guess is that Muss will disappoint here once again. I hate to use a tired, old saying, but LJ needs to get in his ear.

Ellis commitment doesn't really effect Blocker, i think Ellis will be a 2 guard here, a more natural fit for him than PG where Louisville had to play him because they didn't have anyone else.

Are you assuming that Devo and Walsh will be back? Don't think the staff is working in that order.

His assist rate would have been the best on the team last year. He does need to turn it over less but his usage was really high last year so that should come down. It was still lower than Black last year though even with more mins and usage.

Yeah, I had forgotten about them. My bad. It was late.

I’m hearing Walsh is probably entering as well. Honestly, if I was a coach and you put your name in I would have to move on. If you give guys until the deadline to make a decision then you are going to miss out on the best portal players.

Maybe he's going higher than projections, but he seems like a prime candidate to return with a nice NIL and really improve his game and draft stock. Mid-late second v. mid-high first round is worth it. You'd think they'd learn from the mistakes of others. Or maybe they don't have the confidence in themselves to do it.
Of course, we have no idea what people are telling them where they'll go. Seems like a lot of projections had JWill undrafted or late second and he was 32?. I thought he made a mistake, but in hindsight, it worked out well for him.

If Walsh can get can manage to get some assurances that he would get a guaranteed contract he should probably leave. He can develop in the D league. JWill was much more polished than Walsh, but Walsh’s athleticism is elite.

FWIW a few of our transfer "commits" still have their names in the NBA draft process depending on how things work themselves out.

10. ARKANSAS USING TRANSFER PORTAL TO GET OLD
quote:
Arkansas was the 11th-youngest Power Six team last season, per KenPom. Three freshmen played at least 24 minutes per game last season for the Razorbacks. That is fixing to change in 2023-24. Arkansas’ gaudy transfer portal class is filled with established veterans.
Louisville transfer El Ellis: 119 career games
Cincinnati transfer Jeremiah Davenport: 109 career games
Houston transfer Tramon Mark: 76 career games
Temple transfer Khalif Battle: 69 career games
Washington transfer Keyon Menifield: 32 career games
Arkansas was one of the best teams in the country in 2020-21 and 2021-22 with really old teams. Arkansas’ 2023-24 roster is shaping up to have that same type of look.

Send a few of UA finest sorority sisters to Dickinsons house and let’s get this portal season sealed up and done with.
