Good. I like DVH's approach to the tourney this year. This tourney doesn't mean a damn thing. Get back home and get ready for nut cutting time.

Hopefully we start Wood on Thursday. If he looks decent he should be the Friday starter in the regional.

This tournament needs to be single elimination.

Good, they can do away with it altogether as far as I’m concerned.

Dave said after the aggie 3rd game that basically you don’t like it, but sometimes you need to lose games to win games. After losing one of our relievers to an arm injury it was time to shut that useless game down and go home.

Hopefully they’ll concentrate mostly on getting the bats going and screw the outcome.

I know we have a bunch of arms so who starts each game isn’t do or die, but I’m curious.

Who would you have starting Friday Game 1 of the regional? What about Game 3? Assuming Hagen takes care of Game 2.

Gotta feel good about Wood starting one of them at this point but which one? Does anybody feel confident enough in Tygart to have him start one?

All of that depends on the matchup in my opinion

I feel like it will be overall done by committee like some of our other games. Smith generally takes care of business so no problem there, but many games have seen numerous pitchers. We apparently have that luxury which is great and doesn’t burn pitchers if they aren’t on that particular game.

On a side note, I’ve kind of felt like Mcentire has been kinda screwed when he was coming in behind Smith. Anyone coming behind Smith has to look a lot easier no matter how good they are. I wonder if it hurt his confidence.

It has nothing to do with following Hagen.

McEntire was lights out earlier this season when he was regularly middle relief for Hagen. He was arguably the second best pitcher on our staff for a time, and then promptly fell off a cliff when he started having trouble locating and his cutter stopped fooling batters.

Following the Ole Miss series, he had almost the exact same ERA (1.78) as Hagen (1.76).

After that series he:
- got shelled in Game 1 against Bama (3 earned in 1.0 IP)
- gave up 3 earned in 2.0 IP against South Carolina
- gave up 2 earned in 1.0 IP against Florida
- almost blew Game 1 against MSU by loading the bases in just 0.1 IP (and Wood came in and bailed him out).

All of this.

We need him to step up his game or head to the back of the pen with Frank.

Start Mac, pitch Tygart a few then finish with the other pitchers in the pen.

Get run ruled and GTFO

I hope we get to see Tygart today for a few innings and whomever will start Game 1 in the Regionals so they can start setting up the rotation.

If we win today, even not meaning to, then I bet Wood and Mac would be for tomorrow, just to keep the rotation going.
