I've been told for a decade now the DVH is one of the best recruiters in the country.
So what do you mean we have no one else?

I still struggle with how this group of bats won 44 games this season.
I know the pitching carried them much of the season but the holes in the lineup and the group of players to choose 3 OF from is rough.
Pitching depth evaporated the last month with injuries and gassed what remaining arms we did have available. Even those have become iffy last couple weeks with walks.
So many on the pitching staff have only one pitch they can throw for a strike and other teams know in the scouting report.
Agree with all points.
Way too many holes in the lineup, not enough options in the OF (two automatic outs in the OF is unacceptable), and a revolving door of Mendoza Line DH’s.
Our pitchers made their living off of dotting the corners and making batters swing at pitches outside the zone, so the minute a team made us throw it down the middle we paid for it. See the Mississippi State plate approach.
To your point, given the offensive futility of this group it’s a wonder we won as many games as we did and are as high of a seed as we are.

That just shows how good of a coach DVH is. He took the top ranked classes he recruited and some how got this shitty group of hitters he was dealt to win 44 games.
It's really a miracle when you think about it. #5 seed with the #64 batting average.
Obviously is there is any blame to be dealt, it's whoever is coaching these guys to not be able to hit. Can't blame DVH for that.

I've enjoyed the take sign being employed for first pitch strikes right down the middle of the plate this season.
So refreshing seeing guys not going after he first pitch driving up the pitch counts.

One would think with a team who all year has left runners on base a coach would be creative in trying to create runs and not just tell his guys to swing for the fence.

It actually was.
Scoring position and out advantage turn into Ks and infield ground outs resulting in runners left on base.

I’m no baseball savant but I think it was our ace giving up 6 runs in one inning.
