Welp go down to the #4 seed at home to end the season.
That's baseball for ya.
Always next year.

Do you know who makes those decisions?

Probably trying to keep Souza happy so he doesn't leave.

We got worse almost every single week since the Alabama series. What a monumental dumpster fire of a season this turned into.

Thats obviously somebody other than DVH’s fault

Yep, they fell apart weeks ago. This always felt like it was going to happen.

Souza could benefit enormously from summer ball.
He was the worst hitter in the team by the end of the season.

Yep and the stop gap Petrino hire. We're gonna be horrible and Pit Boss is fired mid season.
I don’t know about that, I think we should have never gave pittman a raise and fired him this year, but his best year was with Odom telling him what to do in situations and BMFP is a better situational game caller.
I still think Pittman will retire or get fired this year though.

Souza and Helfrick will play a lot this summer and should be studs next year and Aloy will get better too.
Don't think any of those guys would leave if we fired Nate either.

Why do all of our players get “exposed once the film is out” or whatever but all of these other teams are hitting their stride this time of year? Am I the only one that’s noticed that old trope isn’t working both ways?

It's the assistant's fault. Fire those guys.

It's so hard to know how much of this is Thompson and how much of it is a bad crop of hitters. We're like 2 years removed from leading the nation in homers and averaging like 9 runs a game, but this year was abysmal. You can't even call this offense mediocre. They were straight up bad even outside of SEC baseball standards.

Part of that was Covid senior transfers like Lanzilli and Turner who had a ton of experience and could mash, along with vets like Wallace, Battles, Moore, Slavens, and Webb. That team was more stacked than we gave it credit for.
I think we did a fairly poor job of evaluation and recruiting with this portal class. Wilmsmeyer and Lovich were supposed to be SEC-level .300 hitters but both were complete duds. We didn’t get much at all from guys Wagner or Edmunson. Sandlot was decent but feels like we could’ve gotten better production there. Molina was a mid-level starter but wildly inefficient at times and untrustworthy by the end of the season The best transfer offensively was White followed by Aloy, but he was boom or bust. Hewlett was a good transfer on the staff.
The question remains, how much of that is on evaluation and how much of it is on development (or lack thereof)? Case in point, Lovich and Wilmsmeyer were both .300 hitters at Mizzou, but they were bottom of the order Mendoza Line guys here. Thompson has to wear that.

Does Holt have another year? I know he's a Senior but would he have a covid year? Would love to see him back one more time.

I believe he’s done, but I could be wrong.

Let’s look at some triple slashes of before portal after portal.
Wilmsmeyer: .311/.380/.482 —> .217/.318/.261(!!!)
Wagner: .337/.451/.692 —> .260/.344/.500
JSL: .314/.440/.582 —> .297/.433/.503
Wehiwa: .376/.427/.662 —> .275/.361/.494

Neither of those guys were highly recruited in the portal... That should be the first sign.
Maybe our NIL for baseball sucks but we can't seem to get any big hitting transfers they go to other SEC schools.
JSL, our last take and a guy that had zero other major school offers from Richmond, ended up being our best transfer. No slight to him, he was great all year.
