They need to develop Coil, Fitzpatrick, and any other lefties we might have, especially if we were to potentially meet LSU in the CWS at any point and Morris keeps pitching like complete arse.

LSU's pitching is pretty weak as well. Get Tygart back and Smith back in the rotation normal and I think we're better in Omaha at a bigger park where power hitting tends to die.

LSU reminds me of last year’s Tennessee team. They rake, play with a lot of emotion, and are beating the shite out of teams, but postseason baseball is weird. Ole Miss flirted with firing Bianco midseason on last year and damn near didn’t (and probably shouldn’t) make the tournament, and suddenly turned into the ‘27 Yankees for a couple of weeks.

Mississippi State’s issue is that of coaching.
Most of their fans will tell you that Lemonis is college baseball’s version of Gene Chizik (and arguably worse) - inherited a ready-made team and rode it to a title. They’ve recruited at an elite level, but their players aren’t getting better.
Ole Miss was never really an elite program. Last year was just their second trip to Omaha since the Nixon presidency.
College baseball is a weird sport, and it’s one where Mike Martin and Dave Van Horn can have 26 combined CWS appearances and zero rings while Pat Casey and Tim Corbin can have just 11 combined trips and 5 rings.

This weeks Omaha game will tell us who the staff “wants” to see be those guys IMo.

I’ll echo a lot of what has already been said. I’m not worried about going 1-2 @ LSU. I really wanted to get at least 1, anything else would’ve been gravy. We found out that Hollan and Hagen are ELITE. We found out that the rest of our staff is….. not. And that’s okay. To win a Natty, we don’t have to have an entire stable of elite pitchers. But we need to have some good to great pitchers to go along with Hollan/Hagen and we need to figure out who that’s gonna be sooner rather than later. I have faith (hope?) that McEntire, Carter, Ledbetter, Wood, etc will all take a step forward as we continue to move through SEC play.
I’ll also agree with the others that we gotta figure something out on the left side of the infield. Put Coll, Cali, Jones, and Bolton’s name in a hat and draw spots for a while until somebody stands out. Maybe that’s what he’s been doing
but we’ve gotta have more consistency there both in the field and at the plate. And the last thing I’ll say is I don’t know why Rowland isn’t starting every game behind the plate. I know he’s not setting the world on fire offensively but Polk’s barely competitive up there.
Perhaps to a fault, I trust DVH. We still have a very plausible shot at a top 8 seed which is all I care about.

Between Coll, Cali, Jones, McLaughlin when he’s back, Holt and Robinett we should be able to finally settle on a guy at 3rd by the end of the season. I’m honestly fine with moving Coll to the starting SS and rotating three of those guys at 3rd each game of a series

I know we all were pissed at how we fared yesterday
I get shades of 2009 when we had a good team that stumbled down the stretch but LSU was on another level. They beat us twice in the regular season then gave us both of our losses in Omaha by a combined score of 23-6. Idk if there was another team at that tournament that was beating us, but LSU could and did handily. They're the best team by a good margin. Could see a similar outcome this year if we're both in Nebraska.
That said, all you have to do is look at Tennessee last year, throw your hands up, and say 'That's baseball.'

The fact that Ole Miss won the CWS last year after having a losing SEC record, finishing 9th in the conference, and making the tourney by the skin of their teeth is one of the more “welp, that’s baseball” things I’ve ever seen in 30+ years of watching the sport.

I think every baseball fan here can attest that being #1 all season and dominating the regular season means jack crap in the end…it wasn’t that long ago for us.
Let LSU hold that #1 banner…don’t want that ju-ju anyway.

I've been a Hog fan too long. During that season I kept thinking "something is going to go wrong." Which, of course, it did.
As folks have been saying... baseball is a weird sport and college baseball doubly so. Get a good seed, host some games, and lets see if the worm finally turns for us.
And maybe, if we make it to Omaha, temporarily make Lance Harter the head coach. I'm just saying that his teams tend to do well under pressure.

Agreed but we also never looked like world beaters. We kept winning due to Kopps but not once looked like LSU this year or Tennessee last season.

Funny how Arkansas is always on the wrong end of "that's baseball".
Even turd schools like MSU and Ole Miss have gotten the benefit.
TN will 100% get a title before us. Probably this year.

After our completely inexcusable performance in Baton Rouge on Saturday, we fell all the way from 5 to 6 in D1’s rankings

Has anyone been in the Bases Loaded Landing for a conference game? Is it primarily standing room only? I assume the people who get in line the earliest get the available seats. Would like to bring the kids, just don't think they would be terribly interested in standing the whole time.

I dunno.
Tennessee plays with far too much raw emotion. That's good in spots, especially earlier in the year, but baseball is a long grind if a season. You can't persist purely off of fire in the belly.

It just makes you angry that the Mississippi schools won it while Arkansas has been consistently good but stumbles when it counts the most. It feels like Georgia in football before Kirby Smart. So close but a sad ending is so predictable.
State avoids the hottest team in the nation that had to forfeit because of covid 19 rules. Now they are trash.
Bianco is almost fired. Barely makes the tournament and wins the whole damned thing. Now they are trash.
But all Arkansas gets is a lousy foul ball gif as a reminder each and every year of how embarrassing it was.

All true. Makes me wanna vomit. It's so torturous following the Hogs. I'm convinced if we ever win one, we'll have a mediocre year but catch fire at the right time.
I just want one baseball natty before I die. I'd take a baseball one before football.

You can forget about football winning one. That is like trying to prove Bigfoot is real. You just want them to be good enough to help pay the bills for other sports that Arkansas has a better chance in.
I really want DVH to win one before he retires. I don't want him to turn into a Mike Martin and have nothing to show for it. Then you leave what could have been that one shinning moment but instead was turned into a blooper by the three stooges.
