Yeah I think there were too many egos on this team and they never had good chemistry outside of the game at Rupp. That was the high point, thought it would launch us but that ended up being the high water mark of the season. That’s where the wave crested and rolled back.
I bet we’re better next year.

Do you think he hits the portal harder, deals with the players a little tougher from the beginning?
We seem to have some incredible players who do not know how to listen to coaches, and mesh together.
I gotta admit when Smith came back, the focus seemed to change.
I would imagine some more mature players from the portal will be the emphasis

Baye Fall was in attendance for that crap show today. Let’s hope it made him hungry to steal some minutes.

Yeah I think he’ll try to do what he did with the 21-22 team and get some good upperclassmen in the portal. This team with an experienced leader would have been so much better, but our most experienced guy was Devo and he’s too erratic and emotional to be a leader.
This team with a Toney or Umude would be a 4 or 5 seed. Maybe better.
I don’t put all the blame on Muss for the busts, Mitchell twins seemed like a good idea but they didn’t pan out. He had a loaded class and it blew up in his face, can’t fault the guy for getting a bunch of five stars.

If we get to the dance I’ll be excited for what we can do.

I’m kind of over it at this point, a couple weeks ago I thought we could hang with anybody, now if we’re a 10 or 11 seed I’m not so sure we’ll win the first game. Would love to be wrong though.
This team doesn’t have the killer instinct we’ve seen from Muss’ other teams, we give up big leads instead of overcoming them. Mizzou, Vandy, Baylor, A&M, Bama, even South Carolina came back but we squeaked it out.

We get the best team’s best efforts in front of pretty full arenas wherever we play.
This group, like other sec teams, is accustomed to the big games unlike some other teams in the dance. With some rest this team will be dangerous.
Hopefully we’ll all be sitting down to a crow dinner…..

Delusional at best. This team is just not that great

Well said.
We lack a lot of what last year's team had. We have no true scorer (Notae), no inside presence (Williams), no physical guard who can finish at the rim and is a lockdown defender (Toney), and no true combo guys (Wade, Umude).Hell, we don't have anyone who can shoot free throws in a tight game (Lykes).
We understandably went the one-and-done route, and we found out firsthand why Kentucky has fallen off the last 5 years.
In fairness to Muss, the Brazile injury screwed everything up. We went from having that Jwill replacement presence inside to having to rely on the Mitchell twins.

Really we have a lot of those things but it is unavailable because we are missing a consistent 3 point shooter.
Ever since Duke did it in the tourney last year, smart teams moved to zone against us and the lane has been too clogged to have an inside game or rim finishers do what they are intended. Spacing is way off without brazile.
My bet is Muss will grab a transfer that shoots lights out from 3 or gets pinion to up his game to crack the line up

We lack shooters, but we also lack guys with physicality who can effectively drive and finish at the rim. Toney was good at that last year.
When we're in offense sets we seem to get sealed on the perimeter a lot. We're too haphazard with the ball out on the edge, so the 5+ pass possessions tend to lead to turnovers with lazy or errant passes.

I think he would make the difference on this team. Can't blame muss for this year. Going and getting the guy we needed- he just got injured early on

This team doesn’t have an extra gear. When they cut it to 5 in the second half yesterday BWA was ready to explode. We then have 2 empty possessions. I believe one was a wide open three.
All the Kentucky fans in the game thread could feel their team was about to fold. We then give up a three as the shot clock expires and an easy layup.
Same thing with MSU a couple of weeks ago.

This team went 8-10 in SEC play and finished 10th overall.
They are what the record says they are. Not good and not even average but just plain bad.
If this team was strictly judged by the selection committee with the eye test and nothing else then they shouldn't be allowed to make the NCAA tournament.

This team should be ashamed of themselves for letting the fans at the Bud down.

We play the barn Thursday. That’s probably a 50/50 game. It’s hard for me to believe that we’re in if we lose that game. 19-13 on a 4 game losing streak. We better hope there are no bracket buster conference champs this year.
Posted on 3/5/23 at 12:18 pm to Poker_hog
I know the sky is falling but bracket matrix still has as at an average of a 8.23 seed after updating this morning.
I think losing in the first round of the SECT is more than likely. But even at that, I don’t think we’re truly at risk of not making the tournament whether we deserve it or not.
And I think unless we get a super favorable opponent matchup wise, we will also exit the NCAAT in the first round and end the year on a 5 game losing streak.

This the team we've seen all year. You will watch a game and say "these guys could win it all". And then you get two or three games where we are going through the motions.
I want to make the NCAA just for recruiting at this point. If we win a game mazel tov.
This may be the most snake bit year I can remember in some time for Arkansas sports.
