Our transfer class has been a huge bust too

Council and the twins are just not that good. Yeah Council puts up points but he’s not efficient at all and doesn’t contribute at all in other ways

The twins get muscled by teams with legitimate bigs

Graham is fine offensively but isn’t a great fit for what muss wants - so why bring him in?

Brazille is the exception

So we went 1 out of 5. But I guess the transfer market is tougher when you have an elite recruiting class coming in

True. Last year's transfer class was so much better by comparison.

Toney, Umude, Trey Wade, and even Lykes for late game ball handling and foul shots.

Toney gave us the physical guard play we lack this year.

Just dispelling the same ol “quitters” narrative our fans throw out after a loss. Why some have such a hard time just admitting we played like shite and got our asses kicked I’ll never know.

Yeah I wouldn’t say they quit. Just looked completely outmatched. Worst I’ve seen since the bama game last year

Some struggle to admit this class was a huge bust.
We legit have no sustainable outside threat and can't shoot FT's worth a shite.
And to compound the problem Muss likes to play with short bench and that leads to dead legs at years end.

Maybe we still make a run but this season has been a bad dream.

We just got blown out by a 6 conference loss TN team that hasn’t been able to score against anyone, shot 59% from FT, turned it over 16 times and looked god awful in every aspect of the game.

Oh and their best player and starting PG was out almost whole game.

I get it’s all cool to be “chill” and say Muss has got this but he clearly doesn’t. This team sucks arse.

It was also an away game against a likely 2 or 3 seed on 1-2 days prep after an away game to the #1 team in the country.

I'm disappointed too, but we don't "suck arse"

Last night sucked. It was a perfect summary of our season. Couldn't shoot the 3. Couldn't shoot mid range jumpers...... Oh but we continued our exercise in futility and continued to try and do both. The Mitchell twins are a waste of space offensively. They struggle with simply catching a post entry pass. Walsh is clearly better with his back to the basket but he spends 75% of our offensive possessions 25 feet from the basket. Graham can score but can't defend a rec league post player.

SHEESH!!!!!!! This team is SO frustrating!

Black needs to come back another year. People can say NBA potential but what exactly is his potential as of now? Tall and athletic?

He needs to come back and develop a shot. If you can't shoot in the NBA you have a problem. Ben Simmons ring a bell?

I don’t know why Black chooses only once or twice a game to show us how he’s capable of driving to the basket and getting a good shot off over just about anyone who is guarding him. When he does it’s like “how are they going to stop that?” and then we see it maybe one more time the rest of the game.

Same way with gafford. Dude always was on the floor, no hustle, fans suck him off. Goes to NBA and doesn’t do that stuff. Tired of these “potential” players.

Uh Gafford was first team all-SEC lol not sure that’s the best example

It was a perfect summary in that it was an away quad 1 game just like most of our quad 1 games this season....away.
Road games are tough, even tougher against quad 1 opponents. How many teams win a majority of their quad 1 away games?

Just to sum this up some more looking at bracketology's 1 and 2 seeds:

Alabama and Kansas each have 3 away quad 1 wins

Kansas st, Texas and Baylor have 2

UCLA, Houston, Purdue all have 1

Arkansas has 1 and has played 6

Of those, only Kansas, Texas and Baylor have played as many at 6,6 and 7

3 seeds?
Tennessee, has 0. They have won every quad 1 home game and lost every quad 1 away game. Lucky for them, they have only played 3 quad 1 away games

Gonzaga has 0

Marquette has 1 win out of their 5 away quad 1's

Arizona has 0, but also didn't have to play 1 yet

4 seeds?
Indiana has 3 out of their 8
Xavier has 1 of their 3
UConn has 0 out of 4
Virginia has 0 out of just 1 game

5 seeds?
Miami 0 of 1
St Mary's 0 of 1
San Diego st 1 of 3
TCU 2 of 6

This class isn't a bust. NSJ is a good player. Black is a good player. Pinion and ford are exactly what they were supposed to be. It's not over achieving, it's what it was supposed to be.

The roster is just very very flawed. I don't hate the twins . I'm not a concil fan he can't pass for shite and makes boneheaded decisions and can't shoot.

It is based on expectations, it’s our highest rated class ever and we’re 19-11 with more losses on the way. Possibly a 10 seed if they lose to Kentucky and whoever we play in the sec tournament. That’s a huge bust.

Sure, but luck plays a big role.

Losing 2 starters early to injury mattered a lot

And the schedule set up very difficult for us. of tournament teams, only Baylor and Indiana played more quad 1 away games and the most quad 1 away wins that anyone has is 3 wins vs our 1 win

The potential teams we could play in the first game of the SEC tournament are:

Mizzou
Auburn
Vandy
Mississippi State
Florida

I think we could beat any of these teams but really need to beat Kentucky on Saturday to get a little momentum. If they go into the tournament on a three game losing streak I fear it could grow to four, then we’re going into the tourney as a 10 or 11 with no confidence and everyone pissed at each other.

I get the comparisons and I upvoted you for doing the leg work, but that doesn’t change how we’ve performed. We had a better team last year with a “worse” class.
