Russell officially committed to the figs.

I know it's a good class coming off 2-10, but it sure would be nice for a change to get one of those head-turning "yeah we're cheating like the others trying to be Tier 1, but prove it" kind of classes.

Just bring on baseball and spring practice...

Signing one of those after 2-10 is a good way to get Ole Miss'd.

Ole Miss jumped us, this class is now 10th in the SEC.

Chad's first class was 14th, for an average of 12th in the conference.

So he moved up from 14th to 10th. Sounds good to me.

Apparently there are some off the field issues with him. Danny wouldn’t elaborate yet but he said the staff immediately stopped recruiting him after his OV here. Perhaps he’ll dive in to it tomorrow in his post-signing day chat if someone asks.

Only reason Ole Miss is ahead of us is because of their number of recruits, just like the only reason we were last last year is because we had the smallest class in the SEC.

Ole Miss jumped because Ealy and he won’t play a snap for them.

It is useless, people have their minds made up and spin things to fit their narrative.

I don't know why anyone that takes recruiting seriously still puts any stock into the rankings. It's 95% politics. We have at least 2 players in this class that could and should be 5 stars if the rankings are honest. Burks if he actually cared about his star rating would have gone to camps, clowned on fools, and gotten the 5th. Catalon if he hadn't torn his ACL would have a 5th. Hudson Henry was dropped 100+ spots in the Rivals rankings from the #1 to #10 TE for literally no reason last month during his offseason. If just those 3 things go differently then magically our class looks a lot better in the rankings. It's all meaningless bullshite.

Rankings are fine if you just want to get a glance at the recruiting landscape but when you look closely, and try to nitpick why player x is higher ranked than player y or why this team is above the next team, it falls apart. Just look at film of who we got and if they excite you then great, if they don't look impressive then bitch about that.

Take this how you will: Trey Biddy just said about Lakia Henry, “He was going to come to Arkansas, Ole Miss must have made an incredible sales pitch”. Rainwater laughed nervously

Here's the deal - Ole Miss got Ole Miss'd, but here they are being listed as one of the "5 Big Winners on Signing Day" - https://247sports.com/Article/National-Signing-Day-2019-big-winners-128802977/

So in other words, their slap on the hand didn't mean jack shite.

The NCAA essentially said -

Not gonna post the whole story here, but Henry was in the bag until this morning. Looked at apartments Sunday. Ole Miss coaches got to his mom last night and she drove through the night to Dodge City, KS and got to Lakia this morning. The re$t I’m $ure we can all fill in what happened...

I have to admit I'm a bit bumbed about Henry, but overall it's a really good class.

Somehow we've got to get 1 or 2 LB's. We're razor thin there. I just don't see how we're going to do that.

That's fine and all, but when rankings are being used to tout "best ever" only to have it finish where Arkansas always finishes in the rankins after the dust settles, it nullifies any argument for it being the "best ever".

Did aggy chad fill the needs for the team with players ready to contribute? Did he recruit areas of non-immediate need with players who will contribute in the future? Did he fail to recruit certain positions with players ready to contribute to him winning his first SEC game? These are the questions that really matter.

Followed by can he recruit consistently? Bert and Nutt recruited pretty consistent, you could always count on them on finishing in the top 30. Petrino recruited like his career, all over the map with orgasmic highs and fully in the ditch lows.
