He had a good season but I don't think he's the best center in the nation to be quite honest.

Jalen was probably doing something wrong to throw him off

Remember he did start off as a great blocker for Bama. Was a HUGE upgrade over DD against UGA in 2021 SECCG. Plenty of us were baffled why he didn’t start over him earlier

Maybe some of it was due to Milroe idk but Seth himself definitely had the yips

I remember a voter of one of the awards saying it’s a lot of name and team recognition. There’s no official stats and OL highlights aren’t commonly viewed. Plus these voters are 100% not watching every center play

I don’t see how you accurately pick this award unless you grade a crapload of film, but sometimes a change of scene is beneficial to s player showing his stuff.

What is shocking here?

B1G controls college football. Full stop. They controlled the CFP selection, they controlled the home games, etc..

Why wouldn't they also make such a selection?

People from the SEC easily forget many of these media members who create narratives are graduates of B1G universities or or Midwestern ot Northern based/born/based.

They want to see their return to prominence. Hence why they always rejected the idea of Alabama led SEC being the leader and standard setter.

I guess his snapping issues got miraculously fixed. Wonder what the issue was here?

Not to say he wasn't better than DD, that bar isn't super high, but I think people like to forget Seth got overpowered by UGA in the NC rematch.

Haven't watched him this year but I'm thinking crowd noise wasn't as bad in the B1G. All I remember, was it being a chronic problem. Who can forget the false, wide, high and rolling snaps from last year. Even when it wasn't his fault he looked bad. You'll recall the auburn safety clap (missed by a ref focusing on the line). Eh 4th and 31 became legend, in part because of Seth.

Glad we moved on and for him.

Seth was always mid at Alabama. He was adequate as a blocker and then turned into a dumpster fire his last year. The center this year had no issues with Milroe's cadence, so suggesting that just makes Seth sound worse.

You told us (over and over again) that Seth not being able to snap the ball accurately was somehow Milroe's fault. It was idiotic then, and it's idiotic now. Nothing has changed. As you saw, Brailsford's QB was also Milroe, and he did not have problems snapping the ball.

I told you a lot of things, but I never said he shouldn't snap the ball accurately. I did say the bad snaps were overblown. He had too many, but some of them should have been caught anyway. And, you don't lose games based on a play or two.

On top of that, I told y'all Seth is a good player that would be in the NFL (to which a lot of you laughed) and that Saban (at the time) would love to have him back. Brailsford played well (although he had a couple errant snaps early before they changed some things up). But, having another good lineman on the team, that could potentially fill in for a struggling RG would have been a positive.

And, I told you some of the snap issues were communication issues between our infallible "heisman quality QB" and a lowly future Rimington winner.

But yeah, my arguments were dumb.

Who's the dumbass again?

Seth is far from the only reason last year's team didn't win more games, but he was a major liability in there. The snaps happened multiple times every game. He had single games with enough bad snaps for a season for most centers.

There was nothing overblown about his issues last year.

Those of you who made Seth into a scapegoat.

Never made him a scapegoat. Just called a spade a spade. The center is responsible for the snap. Period. Nobody else makes the ball roll back there, shoot wide, or sail high.
