I hope we aspire higher than our local juco coach

I do appreciate Curry getting the program to somewhat relevancy. Making the tournament consistently is something to be proud of.

I don’t think any coach would willingly take the SoFla job over ours with our brand exposure. This is Bill Curry going to Kentucky all over again.

With what Alabama gets in exposure this is a job a lot of competent coaches could excel. Her best seasons were with Sarah Ashlee Barker and it was impossible to screw that up.

Her coaching at the end of the game yesterday makes more sense now.

Not really. There are 67 other teams that make it each year and usually 2/3 of the SEC. Making it to the second weekend at least regularly if not consistently is something to be proud of. Just making it every year but bowing out after the first weekend just means you aren’t in the cellar in the SEC.

I do appreciate her efforts to get us back to respectability, but she definitely hit her ceiling and has been there for several years if we want to improve it’s time to move on

How many programs make it to at least the Sweet 16 regularly/consistently?

She had been rumored to Northwestern a few weeks ago so I guess she was looking to leave

I think Saban mindfricked this fanbase into unrealistic expectations across the board.

Maybe you think I mean every year. I just mean averaging getting to the Sweet Sixteen twice every 5 years. I don’t think it’s too much to ask of an Alabama coach to be among the top 16 teams in their sport about half of the time. Do you?

With current resources? Not likely.

The dream candidate is Carly Thibault-DuDonis. After that, it may be the Washington coach who's a Bama native.

Carly Thibault-DuDonis signed extension and likely has a huge buyout. I think Greg might look at Arizona, Adia Barnes, Tammi Reiss.

Someone who's young but knows how to win and develop rosters. Someone who's familiar with SEC. I think this get wrapped up by this weekend.

Bryne hired folks with no ties to sec. Oats signed a buyout at Buffalo too.

Tammi just hired at UF.

I covered Bama women’s basketball fairly regularly during the Moody days when we were contenders for the big trophy. That went away once Dottie Kelso’s recruits cycled through the program. That’s why Moody won. He couldn’t maintain that level of roster without her.

I understand those who think we shouldn’t drop zillions in resources into a non-revenue sport but I think we should try to contend, not just compete, in women’s basketball because that’s what Bama teams should do. Across the board.

Yes, had a brain aneurysm or something. She was an absolutely fantastic recruiter.

I’d be willing to give Madonna a chance … 83% winning percentage over nearly 30 years is great at any level … but only if we give her sufficient resources/tools/support to work with. If I were in her shoes I wouldn’t consider it without that level of commitment. She’s obviously no dummy, she knows what she’d be getting into in the SEC, I don’t see her taking the job just because mama called.

Under no circumstance should a SEC program ever hire straight from JUCO for a head coach, regardless of sport. I get it she wins a lot but JUCO and Division 1 are night and day different.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you 10,000% but because of who this person is, the credibility she would have with the university and where she has won those games, I would not raise a fuss if she got an interview. And honestly I’m not sure she would say yes to an offer.
