You understand that there's a huge gap between perfection and back to back weeks of losing to Vandy and doing everything possible to lose to South Carolina right?

folks also have to understand that these QBs have coaches helping them identify plays before the snap. It's very advantageous for the offense and why I think you see a lot of teams with historically great defenses look amateurish.
I think that is a great point.
Also could be reason why some play calls are coming in late. There is a chess match going on between coordinators and everyone is still figuring out the best strategy with the new rules.

I don't think you need coaches communication to just look for single high safety and know that you can run either mesh or quick slants because they're always playing cover-1 in that scenario.

I could point out that that Saban once won a dodfight against South Carolina at home...and lost to them on the road.
I could point out that Vandy is good this season. Could easily be undefeated if they had a decent kicker(who conveniently didnt miss vs Bama).
Nothing will satisfy you people. Winning in the SEC against any team is a good thing. Georgia struggled against State...with the closest thing to a Saban program. They won though

You realize I was responding to a suggestion that we run primarily full blitz packages against Tennessee?
This isn’t Madden. That won’t work other than as a situational surprise move against a very good QB like Nico. If we do that we will lose.
It would let Heupel iso our weakest cover guy (Malachi) like he did Demarco Hellams two years ago with their fastest WR (Jalin Hyatt) and instead of grinding out 20 points like they did against Florida this week they’ll score 50.
I’ve been sitting in the stands watching Bama football since Shula. I’m not going anywhere. But if you want to compete and win at the highest level in CFB you need to be aware of the things that will get you beat against a championship level team.
Turns out our pass rush was actually outstanding this week before we went zero safety.
As far as who is an idiot it’s clear some don’t know what they’re seeing formation wise so if something works it’s automatically good and if it doesn’t it’s bad and to be attacked. Or you have people emotionally defending or attacking things without any objectivity because of their passion for the team or the number of drinks they’ve had to that point.

I'd be pretty satisfied with not losing to fricking Vanderbilt, not blowing a 28 point lead at home, not struggling with USF at home, and not desperately trying to give away a game to a mediocre South Carolina. It's easy to point to a handful of embarrassing performances we had under Saban considering he was here for 17 seasons. Deboer is 6 games in and we have looked like complete shite for all or most of 4 of them. The fact that you seem offended that people aren't happy about it is bizarre. Again, there's a lot of room between perfection and what we have seen so far.

I was responding in general and not directly to you.

Its almost like...coaching is difficult. South Carolina has good players and coaches that wanted to win and prepared all offseason and intensely for a week to specifically beat Alabama.
For years Bama had a huge talent advantage on teams. That isnt the case this season. The best DBs from last season are all gone. We replaced them with transfers and freshmen.
Our fans just presume that the coach doesnt know what hes doing because they see snapshots from some dickhead on youtube.
Reality was that there were wins and losses against a relatively evenly matched offense and defense yesterday. Bama has no first rounders on this year's defense. The best player is playing for Ohio St now...who got torched by Oregon last night

No im just a logical person who has actually worked in coaching with several cfb teams. Id bet 90% of the "fire everybody" crowd is an undisciplined fatass who has never played serious competitive sports before.

Shouldn't make fun of people you don't know and have no idea what they've been through.

Which teams do you think have had a clear talent advantage on Bama so far this year?
My concern defensively is that players seem to be regressing massively.
Lawson, Campbell and Moore in particular are veteran players who are not even functional right now at times. If the calls aren’t getting in on time it would explain it, but something horrible is happening on defense in particular and I don’t think anyone here has enough information to say what the issue is in particular other than something serious is going on back there.
My possibly unpopular opinion is that relative to turnover we had our corners have been much better than I expected YTD. Safety play has been my concern with multiple deep coverage busts from Sabb and Moore almost weekly whether they’re exploited or not.
I’m still trying to process the DL play with the new scheme because without watching carefully it’s not always apparent what the LB is being asked to do against an option/RPO look and what’s the DL not keeping the LBs clean from the OL to make a play. I suspect there’s fault on both sides at times.

You shouldn't hire your friend to be a coordinator unless he is the best option in the country.
Have you ever thought he might have hired him for his connection with HS coaches in the South where DeBoer hasn’t recruited? Also, are the players Saban recruited for his defensive scheme fitting the scheme that Wommack runs? We have a lot of youth in the back end that are athletic but tend to have a few busted coverages. The more they play the better they should get. Time will tell!

There is no doubt that there are those fans out there who fall into that fat, no nothing group you mock (and maybe rightfully so.). But Womack is a definite problem - and if you can't see that, then you are probably (since I don't know you, I said 'probably') part of the problem.

My man ! You do realize that you are admitting to being wrong about our season long debate about whether boom or bust offense is worth a shite.
I've been saying all season we can't sustain drives and play keep away with the football and Bama is getting whipped by teams that move the chains and play within their system - staying on schedule with third and manageable situations.
Now here you are completely changing your tune saying you wish these other teams would just score fast and not grind us into pulp over 15 plays and 8 minutes of TOP.
You see ? Our offense is doing exactly what you wish other teams would do to us:
go three and out, three and out, three and out, 3 play TD bomb on busted coverage and then put our offense right back on the field.
You've literally been arguing this point against me all season long and now here you are making the same argument I have been making all season. THIS is why I love the Rant

I think this is all that needs to happen. We have 3 true freshman playing major minutes in the secondary. We’re putting way too much pressure on those young guys. Send the house occasionally and force some bad throws
