Why didn’t Milroe go under center to fix the snapping issue?

Wondered the same thing for months.

I mean, why not try something different.

I’d guess it would make it even harder for him read the defense and make progressions. But since he can’t effectively do either of those I don’t know what the downside would have been.

Serious question, can Milroe execute a seven or five step drop back? Felt like we were always in pistol or shotgun on passing plays

If that’s not refined and he doesn’t have a play action, that’s my best guess

Do any teams aside from Iowa go under center anymore? Even Wisconsin operates mainly out of the shotgun now.

Seth would likely have just fired it between Milroe's legs once he got his hands under there .

Great question... I've wondered myself.

Going under center changes the playbook. It eliminates a lot of plays and can lead to some issues for a QB.

One of the benefits of the shotgun is allowing the QB to see the field as soon as the ball is snapped (if it's a good snap) and it allows for RPOs and for QB runs that aren't options when you're dropping back from under center.

Not really. Michigan sprinkled it in a few times against us, can’t remember the degree of success they had.

Milroe very likely did not have the footwork/technique necessary to effectively run an under-center focused attack. Alabama's offense was beleaguered by individual deficiencies that led to an utter inability to effectively mask enough of them to be a good offensive unit.

He runs pretty good straight ahead.

I also believe it is likely Milroe thought touching another man's butt was ickey and might make him gay. His unproven homophobia is just one of many individual and group deficiencies that contributed to the collective offensive failure. Seth may have suffered from IBS making people not want to go under center as well.

It’s not that simple. Our offensive plays are designed out of the shotgun. Also on pass plays a QB has to know how to do a specific drop back when getting the ball under center. It changes a lot.

Our offense is completely predicated on shotgun and pistol snaps for timing, spacing and angles.

If a WR can’t catch the ball you don’t switch to the triple option, you get a better WR.

The offensive sets post halftime UT were fine given our QB and personnel. We just need a new C.

I heard Seth left doo-doo feces all over his locker (stunk so bad) and no one wanted to be next to him. This probably checks out.

It wasn’t Seth. He couldn’t have hit his locker. It would have gone to high or too low and hit someone else’s.
