Watch, our defense will improve when Golding is no longer the DC/ILB Coach.

Saban tried to hire him when he hired Cochran. He told Saban he was happy in Lousiana.

And people think I dislike Murphy. You REALLY don't like this guy.

I've got nothing against Golding as a person, but he's been incompetent as Bama's DC/ILB coach, imo. Tbh, I'm kinda hoping he'll seek and land a job he can handle better elsewhere, ASAP. But if Saban wants to keep Pete as DC/ILB coach, I'll certainly be pulling for him to do a good job.

Think Cochran was making between 500-600K.
Cochran' s salary was $595k with $120k maximun bonus potential. I'm really interested to see what his BFF Kirby is gonna pay an inexperienced ST coach ($750k??).

I get the feeling Saban wants to steer clear of the self promoting type. And, he wants all substance.

HoosiersNow.com, the SportsIllustrated site covering Indiana athletics reported on Saturday afternoon that Alabama has offered David Ballou the job as the football program's new strength and conditioning coach.

I agree. For better or worse the rah-rah types don't seem to cut it with Saban as much these days. The man has built a recruiting machine that is damn good at evaluating talent no matter what the fanbase and the services say. He's looking for coaches who can teach now since our recruiting model has been replicated by several programs.
^^^The above is no indictment of our recruiting^^^

Does this mean we can vote Goldtide off the Bama Island?

I don't know if you watched Survivor, I didn't, but I was told deception is what kept you on the island.

I would prefer you don’t, but I would understand. I get tidbits of information from time to time. Most of the time reliable, sometimes not. I’ve never posted any, but for whatever reason I decided to post it this time and it appears that it was wrong. Sorry guys. I will retire my insider source posts.

The problem is you actually had a source. Just do what I do and make shite up. Then no one will bother you.

I got no problem with Feld for what it's worth. Just think that Saban is confident in his recruiting model and has changed to an NFL model for his coaching staff. He's looking for maturity in his golden years. Just my opinion and I hope it pays dividends.

Alabama Closing in on New Strength and Conditioning Coach (SI Bama Central)
Breaking: Indiana’s David Ballou Offered Same Job at Alabama (SI HoosiersNow)

Just spoke to a good source and barring something unexpected I expect David Ballou to be named Alabama's strength coach by the middle of next week but it could be earlier. Dr. Matt Rhea is expected to come with Ballou with Rhea being more of a speed guy I believe. They are a package deal I'm told.
Also hearing from reliable sources near Ballou that he has informed some people (I'm not sure if all have been told) at IU that he is expected to leave for UA, and have another source saying there should be announcement sooner rather than later. Again barring something unexpected but at this stage it sounds like most of the details are worked out.
EDIT: I would like to add that every person I spoke to this week around college programs said that this duo is the best in college football. Bar none and it isn't close. I've also spoken to a few college coaches that tell me both, but especially Ballou, are formidable on the recruiting trail.
Also as I said in a thread earlier today and a few times this week there were some guys mentioned as targets who apparently never were among the top choices for Saban. But he did do a lot of research for this role.
Still digging for more. -- TWatts
