Ultimately the buck stops with Saban.

But between Milroe and Rees.

Who knows. Closest example that I can think of is Hurst and Brian Dabol.

Everyone questioned Dabol all season. All the way through halftime of the national championship game. Then somehow the second half of that game he looked like a genius. Same guy…what changed?

How about we not blame anyone. It was a great fun season that we came up short in the end and lost to a better team on that day

There are 133 teams in college football. Only one will win the championship. All other 132 teams do not need to find someone to blame. About 30 probably do. We're not one of those 30.

This was a special season that no one predicted us to have, so if you need to blame someone, blame and thank Saban for the job he did.

Reese could have started the game like he started the second half.

But we had to watch an entire half of the qb getting mugged before he made the adjustments.

Tommy Reese is suspect #1.

Everyone is to be blamed except for Special Teams & their coaching.

Bama was preseason number four, so they actually finished exactly as predicted.

1. Reese (play caller)
2. Saban (no arse chewing)
3. Center (obvious)
4. O Line (manhandled)
5. Milroe (too erratic)
6. WR's TE's (no separation and lack of blocking)
7.

Maybe it’s as simple as Michigan is just the best team this year. They’ve made the playoffs 3 years in a row and returned a lot of those players.

Both teams we lost to were playoff teams. Not sure how anyone could say it was a bad season with how many new faces we had in key roles.

I really don't want to play the blame game but I would like to know if Michigan's D-line was that good and why couldn't our big O-line handle them most of the game.

I don’t know how anyone sees it any other way.

I made a post early in the game saying he’s got to change this up. Think of a pitching matchup, or Kiffin calling a game. You can get in a rhythm where everything you call has the opponent gussing and off balance and reacting to YOU. Early on Reese was doing the EXACT opposite of that. No biggie as it was early, but holy shite we just kept doing it. He called the game backwards.

Add the shite snaps and zero adjustments against Michigan’s pass rush and we have a recipe for a blowout.

And Alabama damn near won the game. I have no clue why anyone would blame Milroe for that game.

Yeah this would be my list as well.

However you have to put D.Lawson above Milroe because that dude was the weakness that Michigan schemed their entire offense to attack.

Damn! I remember when we had OCs who could actually scheme our offense to attack a defense weakness.. and not just run dumb pro-style with a running QB for a half and wait till halftime to make any adjustments

I would just say linebackers in general in pass coverage instead of singling one out. We had guys get lost all year in coverage.

Which much like the problems with the snap I put squarely on coaching. If the guys can’t do it, find one who can, or coach better on how.

It was mainly D.Lawson.

That 4th down played that killed us in the 4th quarter wasn't on the LB. The DB was suppose to cover and the LB communicated to him to break off.

The DB didn't, doubled the WR who was just a disguse and their RB hit the flat open

100% agreed. This season was never supposed to go like this after the start of it. I'm not saying it didn't suck to end that way, but in the end, only one team gets all the glory. We got hardware, a great season, and an all-timer iron bowl win that i will cherish even if we had had a losing season.

let's stop worrying about it, and let the GOAT sort us out in the off-season.

Michigan's D line is very good. And if you'll remember, our O-line got bullied on passing downs by much less physical d-lines for the first third of the season, and in a lot of first halves of a lot of our games.

I think that our Oline either got too confident after having some success the second half of the season and thought they could easily handle Michigan's front, OR the month long gap between games deflated the momentum and confidence they'd found.

A big difference in the game was how sound and disciplined Michigan was compared to us. We all knew that this was a significant factor in the game, the fact that we had trouble with consistency in most games, and Michigan didn't, even if they were going against inferior opponents. Consistency is playing disciplined and sound no matter who the opponent is, and Michigan accomplished that. Sucks because that has been a staple of Saban's philosophy, but a big part of that is how much experience their guys have vs. our guys.

There’s a lot that happened and we still should have won the game.

It sucks but hey we made it on a year we shouldn’t have which was fun and surprising.
