12–13 possessions stopping the SEC’s leading rusher who dropped 248 yards on AU and leads the nation in ypc with 7.6.

Again, the defense kept that game from being 21-0 or 17-0 within the first 4 possessions of the game.

You give top15/top10/#1 ranked team
In the country that many chances then yes, they will put up 2 TDs on you

How is Wommack “so ineffective”?

There is zero complimentary football from the offense. They never eat up 6-7 minutes 2-3 drives a game and are the most turnover-prone thing I’ve ever seen.

Defending the 2nd most possessions in the ENTIRE Conference, and still giving up 19.2ppg while simultaneously scoring damn near 1/2 of Bama’s points.

Bama 26-1 (or 27-1) when the offense scores 21+

There are PLENTY of OC’s out there who could put together a balanced/competent offense with the pieces Bama has offensively.

If they had that, then we wouldn’t have so many fans who gripe about 19.2ppg.

All we would hear is how well they did to keep (everyone) teams to 20 points week in and week out while creating all those turnovers.

It’s like fans just gloss over the fact that the defense has forced THE MOST turnovers in the SEC over the past 3 years and the 2nd most in all of CFB.

That’s a pretty wild statistic imo.

Imagine if they only defended 7-8 possessions a like UGA does instead of 11+!

You've got to quit taking this stuff personally.

You make good points but so do other people. When told that the Kane defensive scheme allowed Tennessee to move down the field almost unabated you don't agree with their point. You just point to something else like we didnt allow ut to score 27 pts. But they ran and passed all over us. I could have completed those passes.

His scheme 100% allowed Tennessee to move down the field, control the game, and win.

If the Oc for atm had kept throwing the same passes Tennessee did we wouldn't have won this game.

Absolutely no one here wants the defense to suck and no one wants Kane to have a bad defensive scheme. But at times it does and he does.

They aren't perfect, accept what people are saying or at least agree to disagree.

I’ll trade some passes in the flats with #5 playing way off if it comes with the fewest pints allowed by a Bama D since 2017 (in 2024), fewest yards allowed since 2018 (2025), currently on track to surpass 2016 defense in take-aways.

This is borderline blasphemy. To even think about Wommack’s defense this year (or any year, ever) and the 2016 defense in the same thought could have one stoned to death in some parts of the world.

And I’ve seen cherry picking stats before, but damn this is impressive pickin

I said ineffective blitzes. He’s gotten away from it more so this year, but his called ILB blitzes mugging the A-gap pre snap were frickin atrocious. This was big year 1 and 2 under CKW.

Yet again, fire the DC, bc yet again he held the SEC opponent to 20 points.

I’d argue he didn’t give up 20 because he gave us a pick 6 and what should’ve been an easy FG.

IMO the defense only allowed net 10 points due to the turnovers they generated.

I am not opposed to Wommack. His style isn’t lock down but they do a good job overall. I’m far more concerned with the massive issues on offensive. Better play calling and coaching the players would have use winning by 14+ every game. The offense is the problem with Bama. The defense just stays on the field far too long.

I think the really annoying part with Wommack right now is where are the elite defensive games? Do we have to give up solid production and points to every offense we play? A&M should not have gotten more than 10 points today. In the fourth we finally saw some adjustments and got some dang stops on the field

If you could at least hold on to the ball and run more than 1:15 off the clock and play for a field goal on offense then kick the ball off and have the other team start on their own 25, you’d see an elite defensive game.

I read through the thread again, and man you're pumping a dry well with this bunch.

This board is absolutely married to it's disdain for Kane Wommack, and it's utterly inexplicable.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, under Kane Wommack is playing elite defense, it just is. Now it's not perfect and none of us like seeing the likes of Marcel Reed march up and down Saban Field, but how this fanbase refuses to tip it's hat to the end result baffles me.

It's as though folks want our defense to keep this Walmart parking lot shite diaper of an offense from losing games, and when it can't, everyone blames the strongest part of the team.

For all the weights, measures, numbers and stats. It comes down to this. In our two losses, we couldn't score 21 and 27 points. Now everyone just sit and marinate in that shite for a moment.

This team and fanbase is lucky as frick to have a defense that can hold conference opponents to no more than 26 points.

The team we're facing next sure as shite can't do it. In their two losses, their conference opponents scored above 30.

Thanks Kane. Solid work.

This fan base in general and every millennial or Genz fan that didn't live through Dubose, Fran, price or shula is mostly completely mentally retarded. We just held them to 20 points, 273 total yards, had complete domination 3 and 4th qtr offensively and defensivly, ran the clock out perfectly and could have scored again if we wanted to. All this while being completely depleted along both lines by injuries the last 3 weeks. Anyone that wasnt happy with yesterday's effort just isn't going to ever be satisfied by anything

it seems to me that this version of the womack defense has a recurring issue. third down defensive penalties that keep allowing the opposing offense to remain on the field. thats a discipline issue. this defense isn't designed to be a shutdown defense, however, it should be able to get off the field on third down as often as possible. it is designed to limit the points given up. it is generally effective at doing that.

15 yards in final 15 minutes is legit AF.

Also, 3 and outs don’t help the defense

It’s not always discipline; sometimes it is and sometimes it’s over agressiveness but both are fixable and similar problems.
