Ezavier Crowell has all the makings of a great RB. He’s putting up gaudy numbers in HS so far this year. He’s got good size at 205 lbs now and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t put on another 10-15 lbs of muscle between now and next August.
Javari Burnett IMO is wildly underrated as a recruit. Similar size/speed as Crowell but has some wiggle/shiftiness to make people miss. Tough, physical runner.

Someone explain why committing to the run makes since when you cant. Given our receivers and Ty's accuracy, we can win this game with good protection

I’ll just say it, it’s talent.
After Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, Drake, Henry, Najee, Gibbs, etc, we finally have an average RB room. Our room is filled with just a bunch of average RBs, not one pushes the needle or is elite.
People won't like it but you're right. None of our returning backs are star players. Jam Miller was supposedly poised for a big year but we've yet to see him on the field. Furthermore, the blocking from his line doesn't make me think he's about to be a 100 ypg runner. However, he is more like the type of back this staff wants.
If I had to describe what I imagine is their ideal back. It is someone like Clemson rocked during their run with Lawrence and Watson: Gallman and Etienne. Gallman probably is closer to Jam's potential. ETN is what we hope Dear will be for us one day. They're not going to consistently have lots of touches. They may have games where they make more of an impact as a pass catcher than runner. However, they can get a tough yard when they need it and teams can't forget that a hand off is an effective option against favorable looks.

OL still struggling. I don’t think we come off our combo blocks and let LB run free. If our G/T are not coming off double teams and getting to second level we’re not going to run successfully.

Millers proven in big games. Riley has burst and catches the ballk well. Dear when he learns pass pro is a better runner then Young. It will shake itself out.

Yep, this team OL should be like those 90s Denver or 00s Colts units. Inside zone, outside zone, and counters. We're seeing the last year or two of Alabama rocking 330lb OLs. Frankly, Mizzou probably has the OL closer to what DeBoer hopes to implement one day. It took Drinkwitz three seasons to rebuild his roster but now I think they're lowkey one of the better running offenses in the country right now.

Did not need against ULM and Wisconsin is built to stop the run. Also does not help as our best RB is currently out with a hopeful return for UGA(I think)
Dear is going to move up in the rotation quick this season

Poor OL by Tide Standards... In fact, there's not a descent o-tackle on the team.

Because it’s by God baked into the DNA of Alabama football that we’re supposed to have a tough, old-school ground game. Even though Saban bade bon voyage to that tradition 5 years ago. Plus the deal that “You’ve got to run the ball to win in the SEC,” which is true although it’s less true than it used to be, and when it’s true it’s not Derrick Henry crushing defenders and taking away defenders’ manhood and making their asses quit, it’s increasingly RPO stuff.
Look I’m being very facetious and sarcastic here, I know we need to run the ball better and I am hoping we do run the ball better. But joyless murderball ain’t coming back and it’s like I said, there’s an element of our fan base that wants to win a certain way. I just want the W.

Wisconsin is not a great team, but they have a really good run defense. I think I saw they’re number 4 in the nation in run defense while giving up less than 50 yards a game on the ground

They had allowed only one run of 10 yards or longer the whole season. They're a mediocre team but they can shut down the run. I don't think anybody's going to run on them consistently.
