As long as our QB doesn’t actively crap the bed in key moments, we should be better than last season.

It’s funny you say that.

When it started raining in the Michigan game I knew 100% we were screwed with Milroe.

It's hard to overstate how badly he screwed us in some games. Looking back, I guess I got too optimistic after the UGA game about him having turned the corner. I think we're just lucky UGA bought the Heisman hype and didn't focus full pressure on him from the opening snap.

I don't think we win that game if it's in week 10.

The UGA game was the best example of this. Couldn't be stopped for two quarters. Then the next two he could barely manage a first down.

1. He was never superman throwing the ball.
2. UGA adjusted and he was awful. Got bailed out on the accidental back shoulder throw to RW.

Unproven QB is never a good thing. The coaching staff needs to be way better than last year.

Milroe was so awful, he lost three games by himself last year. If we get competent QB play this year, we’re in the playoffs.

Milroe was so horrible the last six games of the season. He only had two passing touchdowns during that time stretch and they both came against Mercer. He was so bad against Oklahoma and Michigan that I felt like he could have been point shaving. We were also fortunate that the Auburn game was in Tuscaloosa and not down there. He was erratic in that game, too.

In the Oklahoma game the one play that should have benched him the remainder of the season was the pick six imo.

It wasn’t the int itself that pissed me off, it was the point he could have stopped the guy from scoring the TD. He didn’t even try to stop him, he could have shoved him out of bounds. That one play summed up his career for me. That play showed me he didn’t even care.

It’s all comes down to Ty Simpson. If he is good then the team is gonna be really fricking good. Because we are loaded and return pretty much everyone else

Completely agree. I remember the game thread from the Oklahoma game. People literally lost their minds when he refused to make a tackle on the pick six. The only one who wanted him to remain in the game was that Y Star tool.

He was erratic in that game (AU) also

?18-24-256? 3 rushing TDs. He was bad enough in the 3 games you were talking about - no need to stretch it. The UT game was so bad that I think he was injured. Maybe not. He never had been so inaccurate. Some of his passes were literally 15 feet over the receiver’s head.

I don’t want to criticize further, he’s been blasted more than any Alabama player ever. It was a shame. But IMO, he played well vs AU last year.

See how this thread has turned out .. this is this crap I'm not looking forward to if the season does go perfect. Every thread this past season turned into this. It must be nice to be a coach and never have to be blamed for anything. I'm off the mindset that you start blame with the coaches...if we see the issues, why didn't they? If they did, why not make changes? Maybe the other options weren't as good as the starter. If that's the case, this could be an interesting year. We'll see...

Some of these people, even if we run the table this year, are never going to forgive DeBoer for last season even if he stands in the middle of McFarland Boulevard and slices his little finger off like the Japanese samurai used to do in penance when they’d wronged someone.

In fairness he opened the door for that by sticking with Milroe until the bitter end but Milroe is gone now and harping about it isn’t going to change what happened.

Somewhere between cautiously optimistic and pumped to the gills. The schedule is brutal but I think we can get through it and get to the playoffs. Then it’s a crapshoot.

I’m expecting good things out of Simpson but I also hope we have situations where we can get the other QBs some quality reps where they can actually work on some things against a live defense instead of just handing the ball off to run out the clock.

Bama is headed in a great direction. I believe Deboer is going to right the ship.

He did, but also tried to turn it over like 4 times. Even in a game he played well, he was loose with the ball.

Hoping Ty has MCarron levels of "protect the ball and live to fight another play" mentality instead of trying to be a hero or just outright careless with it like Milroe.

Correct. He threw a pick and fumbled it three times. One we recovered fortunately. Very frustrating. That game was very close to being a blowout in our favor if not for the turnovers.

I am cautiously optimistic about the season. We need good QB play. Will be playoff bound. I'm ready
