I’m not sure it was my first game but the first memory I went with my dad to see Bama vs. Va Tech in Tuscaloosa in 1973. I was 8 years old. Bama won 77-6. I can still remember seeing the old Denny Stadium scoreboard lights with the final score as we walked out.

That’s when Virginia Tech was known as VPI, Virginia Polytechnic Institute. I didn’t go, but I remember listening to Doug Layton and John Forney call the game on the radio. That was an epic beatdown. Alabama could have easily put up 100 if Coach Bryant hadn’t subbed in everyone but the cheerleaders.

The Ala Miami game in '77 was the first one I remember really although I'm sure I went to some before that as we lived in town then. I was 7.
I remember the Kentucky basketball game the prior year or some of attending.

Still the greatest play I've ever seen. They can say it was a "non play" all they want...but we know better. Forced them to take the penalty waaaaay back up the field instead of the huge gain.

82 Liberty Bowl. Bryant's last game. I know I watched games prior to that, but this one is the first solid memory. Van Tiffin's kick would be the next.

I went to a game in Tuscaloosa in the late 1940's. Do not remember the game but I did meet and talk to Johnny Mack Brown in the barber shop in downtown Tuscaloosa. He was getting his boots shined. Watched Alabama beat Syracuse 61 to 6 in the 1953 Orange Bowl on television. Syracuse took a canon to fire after each time they scored. They fired it one time when they scored early in the game. I thought as a 13-year-old it was a good thing Alabama did not take a canon to the game or they would have blown Miami off the map. I watched TCU with Jim Swink beat Alabama 21 to 0 in Tuscaloosa in 1955. Lots of memories of Alabama football since those days. I remember most of the games ya'll have discussed and have similar sentiments voiced about those games.

“1970 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. 24-24 tie with Oklahoma”

My first football memory is Joe Namath in the Super Bowl. I also remember my parents and one of my sisters watching The Bear Bryant Show.
Alabama in the Astro Bluebonnet Bowl against Oklahoma was the first game. I watched all the way through.
But what I remember most about the Oklahoma game was Alabama missed a game winning field goal when it was tipped and it went wide left.
My first in person game was Vandy at Bryant Denny Stadium in 1976. My father had passed away in November of 75. My cousin who was in college at UNA took me, I was in the 8th grade. He had gotten us two student tickets ($8.00 each). I remember one run by Johnny Davis that took 10 Vandy defenders get him down. Of all things to remember but I do, Vanderbilt had a pretty good play that happened right in front of the student section. I just happened to look at the cheerleader with the microphone (he was in my line of vision). He nodded several times as if to say alright, and started the following cheer:
“We can dig it yeah we can dig it… We’re Alabama yeah we can dig it.”
Why I can remember that I have no idea.
