What do we think about our RB situation?

A few months ago I thought we were more than set at RB...But as of now it looks pretty thin. With Tenpenny leaving and Tyren Jones transferring we really needed Bo Scarbrough and Desherrius Flowers to come in and contribute.

Well Bo got hurt and apparently Flowers will be ineligible for 2015....

What do you think our rb depth will look like?

Obviously Derrick Henry will be 1 and he hasn't really had an injury problems so far. Lets hope he stays healthy

Drake is a clear 2....but he is coming off a broken leg or whatever it was.

Besides that....Who do we have? Another incoming Freshman who isn't even on campus yet?

Maybe looking at a transfer?

Man I wish Tyren Jones could have gotten his head on straight in his limited time playing I was really impressed with him.

If Drake can stay healthy though I am really excited for him this year in that Kiffin offense. I love seeing him out wide like in that Florida game where he caught that long td pass. He is gonna be lethal.....if he can stay healthy that is.

So....what do you think about our RB situation as of now for next year?

I might be in the minority, but I think Bama is in a perfectly fine position.

Henry will benefit from an increased workload, Drake can still flex out wide on occasion, and Harris can come in and get meaningful snaps - if he shows up ready.

We were arguably in a worse, or similar spot in 2008. Coffee returning, Upchurch coming off injury, and Ingram unproven, and not much behind them.

The OLine will be more the potential issue than the RBs, imo.

I think that as long as we stay healthy we are totally fine. A 1-2 combo of Henry and Drake can be lethal. They seem to be a great complement to each others playing style.

We just don't really have depth though is the problem.

on the bright side RB is probly the easiest transition from HS to college. I'm definiitely not saying it's easy...but easier than most other positions.

Are we for sure that Bo will not be able to go this season? I know he tore the ACL, but do we know how his rehab is coming along?

There is no way he will be ready to play.

I've seen reports that says the staff thinks Bo will be able to go by the projected Oct date.

Should they? Probably not.

I would be very surprised. I wouldn't even risk it if I was the coaches or BO.

We need a rb to transfer in for depth. Harris will have a big opportunity to play early, great situation for him

I think we are in trouble. One injury and we'll be on the hurt. May need to move another guy over to RB.

Don't forget we have Ronnie Clark as the no.4 guy. Also heard rumors about former WVU Sr. RB Andrew Buie who could transfer to provide some depth.

We need to find a transfer or we will be moving a guy over from another position which isn't ideal. Any good transfers out there we could sign? Tyron Jones...you idiot.

Not good. Henry is clearly #1 and Drake #2, but will Drake have any lingering effects from the injury? We are counting on Harris to come in as a true freshman and contribute right away as the #3 guy. We have Ronnie Clark at the position and the transfer from WVA coming in. But Clark has not been impressive and has been injured as well and the transfer has to learn the offense and if he can't start at West Virginia, how good is he? Another potential move I have heard is Anthony Averett from DB to RB since he played the position in high school. Keep your fingers crossed. Our once deepest position is now one of our weakest. The good news is with our record at RB, kids ought to be beating our door down to commit there.

Out of our 5 RBs, 3 have had serious leg injuries in the last 9 months and a 4th is a true freshman. Not ideal but we'll be ok IF we're lucky and don't have anymore injuries. As I said in the mega thread, this depth issue may force the staff to change how we practice to protect the RBs. Not optimal for preparing the RBs or defense for game action.

If we don't get the transfer from WV, I think we have to move someone to RB. Averett is too small IMO. Stewart rushed for over 2,000 yards as a junior in high school (small classification) and just under 2,000 yards as a senior. I don't want to lose him as a WR, so I'd have him split time between WR and RB. If there's an injury at RB during the season then he would have to move to RB full time.

Damien H will be this year's Mark Ingram...book it.

If anyone gets injured, look for Bama to transfer someone to RB.

We need to sign the Buie kid from WVU ASAP. He isn't a stud, but he's a veteran player who can play the position if we need him too.

I am not at all worried. I am sure there are plenty of athletic guys who can fill in at RB should it ever need to happen.

It would be a much bigger issue at most any other position. If this was the OL we were talking about, I'd be crying. But RB? Not sweating it at all.

And it's not uncommon for a true freshman RB to be our 3rd string RB. Hell, TR was basically our 2nd string RB as a true freshman, but we ran the hell outta Mark Ingram that year. Upchurch was 3rd string, and while you loved it the times he got the ball, it wasn't like he was some big stud RB.

As long as the OL stays healthy, we are set.

The walk-on Vaughan could be a diamond in the rough. I'm pretty happy about picking this kid up
