Joke. Surtain was the victim of “Alabama can’t win them all” syndrome.

It was the award I was pretty confident Alabama would get tonight. I wasn’t sure on the Doak or Outland.

Honestly Surtain didn't get thrown at a lot so I'm not surprised he lost this one either. Moehrig had a hell of a year.

I'm normally very understanding about these awards, but n'all you can keep this .

Surtain has been great but I honestly am Not surprised. It didn’t feel like he impacted the game in the same way guys like Eddie and Minkah did, and I know that’s an issue of position and the fact that teams largely stayed away from him.

I will say that he was far more deserving this year than Delpit was last year.

Eddie and Minkah are safeties. PS2 is a shutdown corner. It is like comparing Darelle Revis to Ed Reed. What can he do if they never throw his way?

He became the 4th Alabama player to win this award. All in the Coach Saban era, McCarron, Henry, Tua, & now DeVonta. It was first awarded in 1937.

Yeah, our boys need to get that rat poison out of their minds.

They can celebrate next Tuesday.

Bright side is we gonna have a pissed off kicker and corner with something to prove for the award snubs. A Natty is a wonderful consolation prize.

He's a victim of an offensive juggernaut that kept the pressure off his nerves. I'd call BS but I don't care he can still be All-SEC and all-american and ....Nat'l Champion.. to he.l with the Gross..as. people err Groza foundation.

Surtain was a unanimous All-American and doesn’t win the Thorpe? Whatever.

Yeah I don’t understand that. The guy who won wasn’t named to a SINGLE official All-American team. That’s really odd. Not sure how many times that’s ever happened.

Anyway, with the Walter Camp releasing their list Dickerson, Leatherwood, Najee, DeVonta, and Surtain are all Unanimous All-Americans. Mac, thanks to the FWAA, is a consensus All-American.
