I started a thread on the Saints board about this but I wanted to hear what y’all think about him since Alabama Fans would have the best feel of him.

Here is a link to my thread on the Saints Board:
Rashaan Evans

So basically the Saints have been linked with Evans in the most recent Mock Drafts since we do have a need for young LB’s, so I was wondering what y’all thoughts on Evans are!

Thanks you!

He was great at ILB for Bama, but is even better on the outside. He is a missle off the edge.

Had he stayed at OLB, he would probably be a top 10 pick.

In today's football he is perfect size, and speed. He played through injuries which he did all through his career. Plays tougher than his size.

A steal would be SDH in the 3rd

I agree with this. He's good anywhere, but better on the outside.

Loved watching Rashaan suit up for the Tide. I think he's one of the most talented linebackers to play under Saban here even if he never became as much of a household name as a Rolando McClain or Reuben Foster.

He started out as an OLB and moved to the inside for his last two years. Even though he was great at both, I liked him a little more as an OLB because of his ability to rush the passer. I really think he will be one of those guys that will have even more success in the NFL than he did in college. Would love to see him go to the Saints.

Rashaan will have a better career in the NFL than in college. Not that his college career was shabby. He's the prototypical OLB for today's NFL. He's smart, has the size, speed, and mental toughness to be an All-Pro. Rashaan also has good pass coverage skills.

Can't add much to what was already said, but AMAZING athlete that is no where near a finished product. Huge NFL career ahead.

Gonna be a great one, runs sideline to sideline, good in coverage, ideal measurables, can play inside obviously, or step outside and rush the passer. He's gonna be a weapon for any DC with any imagination

a very good player, likely top 20 pick who should have a long career in the NFL and will make an impact on whatever team drafts him. he's a winner. good teammate. a leader. smart. he's an alpha. he deserves better than to have to play his NFL career in the state of Louisiana.

Nothing to add personally but here's an in-depth breakdown of his game.

I think this coupled with the fact that he didn't truly start until he was a senior will bode well for longevity in the NFL.

I know everyone wants to talk about how Saban "uses up" players at UA, however having a committee at RB has helped guys like Mark Ingram, Eddie Lacy, TJ Yeldon have good healthy years in the NFL.

I see that helping Evans. He was banged up this year, but I don't think he has peaked as far as potential.

I see a lot of Reuben in him. Needs to work on angles, but only because he doesn't have the experience yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's a bit smaller than some think. And I think he'll be a pure middle linebacker in the NFL. I don't think he's big enough to play on the edge.

Reminds me of a slightly bigger Deion Jones.

Great player and an even better teammate. Great potential at the next level. Biggest weakness right now is tackling.

I don’t know how many teams run a 4-3, but I think he projects best as WLB in that defense. In sub-packages, which is what NFL teams are playing most of the time, he has great pass rush ability which makes him very versatile. He isn’t going to be a great thumper type run stuffer at ILB in the NFL. I see him playing a long long time and probably will make a few pro bowls. He has big play ability and it will show on third down in the NFL.

He’s really good. He’s a Sabanite - winner.

Thank y’all for all the insight, I usually give the Saints shite for drafting Alabama players since the last few haven’t really panned out.

Ingram is just now coming around and I believe that Evans would be a great addition to the Saints.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but to me he never lived up to his 5-star hype. I know he had some injuries and struggled to put on weight early in his career...but he just never turn into that dominant, destroy RB's in the hole type Alpha like a Rolo, Ragland or Foster. I think he'll have a good pro career if he can stay healthy and add a little more healthy muscle weight, but I probably wouldn't spend a 1st round pick on him if I were a GM. Early 2nd would be my pick.
