I went to Baton Rouge las year. There were some typical drunk idiots, but overall good folks. This board is for the fringe delusional fans. It does not represent the LSU rank and file fan base. In person they’re fun to be around.

I've heard you need to set aside 2 days for it- one for the European side and one for the Pacific.

Right now we are planning on Thursday and Friday for the museum. Saturday for the Revenge Tour and leave Sunday.

I also wonder if the overall wide margin of competition/talent in high schools can cause some players to look a lot better than they actually are?

Meh it's all relative. Last 5 recruiting classes. 5 star players Ben Davis, Eyabi Anoma, Antonio Alfano, Kendell Sheffield, Blake Barnett. All seemed can't miss. How'd they work out? 5 stars have higher upside but they bust like anybody else.

Level of competition in the player's region matters too...and the star rankings don't account for that.

What measurable or metric defines who gets a 5th star? Or a 4th star?

Which is why ESPN and Rivals and 24/7 and others all have different takes on the same story. It's hardly an exact science but it is a very good barometer of base talent and those high elite kids show up in big games, time and time again. Truthfully, would Kirby be winning to a greater degree if he had been hired at South Carolina instead of Muschamp? In general, elite recruits and all those stars really matter.

Sometimes our coach says the darndest things. Like yesterday's presser. He said those stars that some of the elite kids had in their rankings was "news" to him. Come on coach, not all stars are created equal and we get it and coach Saban knows a football player when he sees one. But those star rankings are not "news" to him. He's keeping score like the rest of us.

I've been to BR for the Bama/LSU game 3 times: 08, 12, and 18, and I have had great experience, for the most part, each time. I've had much worse experiences in other SEC towns for games.

Lol, I'm a bama fan, but no. There is often a significant gap between, say, the best QB in a class and the 5th best, even though that 5th best QB is often a high 4 star.

All im saying is that for Alabama there's been very little difference in our 4/5 star players.

For every Julio Jones banner 5 star there's a Ben Davis or Anoma
So many of our star players were 4 star recruits. Jerry Jeudy, Tua, Devonta Smith, etc

If anything 5 stars should be weighted 10% more than 4 stars, but the recruiting sites seem to weigh them about 90% more than 4 stars which is absurd

Jeudy and Tua were 5 stars.
