As did I, giving him a 50 vote lead:

Will Reichard - 6,091
Jose Borregales (Miami) - 6,051

The Miami guy is 2nd and the worst of the 3 candidates.

That Oldroyd kid at BYU being 13-13 on FGs with 3 over 50 and more than half over 40 is a solid year as well.

WR has been amazing though. Extraordinarily consistent, which is all you want from that position. Feels good not closing my eyes for any kick inside of 40.

Will has been amazing but one thing working against him is that he was not put in position to have to try long FGs this year, where the guy from LSU was incredible from 50+ and had that huge game winner in the swamp. I can’t argue much with home being the first team SEC kicker

I like Reichard but still can’t get over the fact that he cannot kick the ball into the end zone consistently.
I get the idea behind high short kicks but a great kicker should have no trouble doing both.

I agree. Do we know if it’s by design or can he just not kick in the end zone consistently?

Even if he can’t, I’m sure one of our punters can. It’s probably by design

He seems to be able to kick long field goals. I imagine he can boot a kickoff for distance too.

I think Saban wants dare teams to try to run the kickoff back.

The game or two ago, can't remember which, we had a situation where we didn't want the clock to move in a kickoff. The damn thing hit went past the end zone, and hit the back wall.

It's absolutely by design. Saban figures it'll either lengthen the field or they could have a turnover. There's a reason it's consistently at exactly the 3-5 yard line.

Yeah I think it's a field position decision. We believe we can stop them before the 25.

Most shocking result this week for me was Will being snubbed by AP All American voters for 1st team: Borregales, 2 team: Cade York (admittedly had the most iconic kick of the year), 3 team: Oldroyd

Personally, I think it should have been an Oldroyd and Reichard race for 1st team. Hopefully, Groza voters see it differently than the AP.

These award voters are always a ? To me. For the life of me, I can't understand how Scott left college without a Ray Guy award.

He played at Alabama. With Alabama winning championships and Alabama players winning other individual awards, they want to give awards like the Ray Guy or Lou Groza to guys on worse teams, IMO.
