But when a guy like Branham puts in a CB just three days ago, it does make me think Bediako will be committing to us. Branham is arguably the best CB guy on 247.

He also attached a high confidence number to it, so it's at worst a very educated guess. Brian Snow and Eric Bossi are also pretty much never wrong and they haven't backed off the extremely high confidence predictions from late last year.

The whole thing just doesn't add up unless he's planning on making an announcement in the middle of the tournament. I'm not sweating it though. There will be half a dozen or more bigs who fit our style in the portal by the end of April.

Yeah, i'm thinking he wants announce it during the Final Four or something, but doesn't want to come out put a date on it for some reason.

100% and a guy from the portal could/would likely be more ready to contribute in a meaningful way next year.

Even if we do get Bediako, I hope we still get a guy from the portal anyway to replace Rojas. Nothing against the guy at all, but with all the talent that is going to be in the portal, we can definitely improve on that roster spot imo. I don't want anyone else to go though, so if Nate wants to keep Rojas then so be it.

It's also possible Nate told Bediako to wait, so we can have a splash commitment in the spring. Taking a page out of saban's book.

Myreon Jones

He’s from Birmingham, right?

I seem to remember something odd about his rating. There was some expert who had him near top 10 in their rankings despite him being closer to 200 national ranking.

Yeah, he's from Birmingham. He played for Huffman, but transferred to a prep school in Georgia for his senior season.

There was a time when he was ranked in the top 30 of his class, but it didn't last long and he ultimately ended up as an average three star.

Huh. His name sounds familiar. Think I heard something about him the other day being someone the coaches might reach out to.

If we reached out with actual legitimate interest it would be a little surprising to me, but I guess I could see how it would work. And I have complete faith and trust in the staff to build out a roster that best suits what we want to do.

Bediako signs, Rojas transfers out, Jones transfers in.

Guards/Wings:

JQ, JD, Shack, Primo, Ellis, Jones, Miles, Holt

Bigs:

Gary, Tchikou, KAH, Wilson, Bediako

ETA: adding another guy that can shoot 40% from three is not a bad thing for us.

I think it's possibly a fall back plan if Q or Shack entertain the draft after this season.

I don't think Shack has NBA elite level athleticism. He needs to work on his offense and defense fundamentals and perfect his shot. He should work to become more of a combo guard and not just a shooting guard. I don't think he could play as a 3.

Yeah, I don't seen any way possible that Shack is draftable after this season.

I think it's very unlikely for JQ too.

It would be a major surprise for me if they both aren't back next season.

Will be a LONG line.

I mentioned him in the thread about a month ago as someone who would be a really good fit if he were to transfer at the end of the season.

He had a really good year as a RS freshman in 2018 where he averaged 10 rebounds per game and 12 points. Injured his knee at the end of that season and missed 2019. He played this year and started looking more like his old self at the end of the year, he got 15 rebs and 16 points a few games ago vs UCF. Career 35% shooter from three. He would have two years of eligibility left.

Freshman highlights

Transfer portal is just really crazy this year.

Newest addition is Marcus Carr from Minnesota. 6'2 guard.

As a sophomore: 15.4, 5.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists

As a junior: 19.4, 4 rebounds, 4.9 assists.

Never an especially efficient scorer, but he does fill up the statline.

In regards to guys like him and Fatts Russell, it doesn't seem like point guards are the most obvious transfer fits for us. I know Oats likes multiple ball handlers, but we potentially have an embarrassment of riches there with Quinerly and JD.

A good shooting wing (that could maybe play anywhere from 2-4) or a big man that can shoot and defend would probably make the most sense.

But a) we don't know exactly how the roster will shake out (although I'd be pretty disappointed if we for some reason didn't have that Quinerly - JD combo next year), and b) maybe the quality of the player is the most important thing since we arguably don't have any glaring needs.

Never hurts to go with a big when choosing between two spots IMO. Losing Herb and Reese, and Bruner , we need some length
