Alabama plans to apply for a hardship waiver that would grant Quinerly immediate eligibility. If he doesn't get the waiver, Quinerly will be forced to sit a season and then would have three years of eligibility.

How long does this process typically take?

The new system could allow the guard to finally live up to his potential.

There's little question he has talent—he's an absolute flash on the court. But if he doesn't improve his defense or perimeter shooting—he shot just 33.7 percent from the field and 25 percent from three—he'll struggle to make an impact at Alabama, much as he did at Villanova.

The popular narrative is that almost everyone is granted a transfer waiver, but that isn't the case. Here are the numbers for undergraduate transfers waiver approvals in Division 1 men's basketball for last season, compared to the previous season. Each case is unique.

And I think Tom Mars has a 100% success rate. I would seriously contact him and ask for his help.

Yeah, looking at his highlights, I don't think he's going to be much of a shooter. He shoots kind of a knuckleball from 3.

That's the link to the Jox Podcasts. The Nate Oats interview is toward the top of the "Roundtable" section.

Oats said G Smith will get his minutes because he plays so hard.

Sounds like Gary will get a lot of playing time at the 4 along with Rojas.

He again mentioned Reese as a big man.

Yeah. Kind of hoping “his minutes” means 15 minutes

Hopefully he’s a different player though.

Well, he DOES play hard. I trust that Oats is implying that he’s also working hard to improve his game. Based on what Oats says, it sounds like Smith is 100% bought in. Hopefully he will be vastly improved.

I've never had the hatred for Galin that a lot of people seem to have. He's never going to be a star, but with a functioning coach, he can be a solid role player. He SHOULD be a good rebounder and decent defender, if they coach him up a little. Those things are all about effort, and knowing where to be.

Me too. Seems 6’9 6’10 guys that can be serviceable don’t grow on trees and the better ones get picked up by blue bloods before us so got to develop them

Im just confused as to what guys have seen out of Reese other than he is willing to shoot the ball that makes guys ok with him but not Galin.

Yeah. The only thing Reese has going for him is that he can hit a 3. His play down low and his defense are abysmal.
