What?

We just won another national championship. Why would I be mad about anything involving the football team?

He still has a lot to work on and I can understand why the coaches didn't make him the starter in week 8.

Tua has 9 months -- spring camp, summer drills (with "analyst" staff) and fall camp -- to work on things -- all of his reps with the 1s. He'll be ready to roll.

AJ was great in that regard if memory serves, smart with the football and it didn't seem to limit his production. We had a dominant oline / running game so that certainly helped a lot.

It wasn't until his third year that Saban really loosened the reins. I don't think Tua needs a tight rein. Let him create. Let him go be a playmaker. If he forces a pass every now and again, so be it. He'll make up for it the next play.

Not saying he won't. Where are people getting this stuff from?

No. I'm not suggesting that he should be benched.

Tua made some freshman mistakes, and he will make less and less of those as he gets more reps. That said, his arm talent, vision of the field, mobility in the pocket, accuracy, etc all off the charts. I'm happy to live with some rookie mistakes to get the rest in return. He came in and absolutely carved up a top 5 defense on the biggest stage in the game. It was unbelievable, really. Tua under center for the next 2-3 years should absolutely terrify every program in the nation.

I think he needs to find the right line to straddle before getting open reign but that's just splitting hairs - we will see what happens in the offseason. Hard to judge off of that one half trying for the comeback what he will do in a normal game situation.

If that is a force here and there out of the whole game it sounds like about the right line. And the right kind of forces, it's a blurry line but take what the defense gives you - hit the open underneath route and let our athletes make plays after the catch and don't throw it up into triple coverage on second down (just random examples not saying anything specific about last game). I'm not saying Tua will make these mistakes just my vision of what I would like to see from the qb.

I watched the coaches version of this play and we had a wide open either TE or receiver standing by the first down marker, they said the ball was supposed to go there as that person was completely uncovered obviously the play worked out. But just for the masses that’s why the coaches said.

That was Tua's first half of meaningful PT at the collegiate level without ever getting the coaching attention and reps that the starting QB gets

If the coaches had started him game 1, he'd have played like an experienced vet in that game
Not to mention we would've gone undefeated, won the SEC, he would've placed in the top 3 for the Heisman, we would've defeated both teams in the playoffs in blowout fashion, and gotten an entire season's worth of exciting, dynamic offense

Tua deserves every single bit of the praise he's getting, and more. Any mistakes he had are on the coaches for not annointing him sooner

Well personally, and i don't know if that was directed at me, but I'm not hating i'm just discussing what I saw now that we have gotten to see Tua really work. Got to talk about something now that the season is over...
