You have no idea how he would have played in game 1.
Hell, Tua would tell you he wasn't ready to start that game.

I'll take Kiffins word. We were in 2ND and long and that was Kiffins specialty

Yeah. I wish he'd played vs Auburn, but it's a moot point now. Assuming he'll be the starter next season, I'm just happy to go forward.

The goal is to win.
But a shitty offense will also, eventually, impact recruiting.

Yep - you were. I hoped and prayed he would improve but it just never happened.
Its almost like he saw Tua killing it in practice and kinda went into a shell, afraid of making a mistake. I am just glad they seem to have each others back regardless.
Their relationship should make parents everywhere feel comfortable sending their kids to play for Saban. I saw Bo and Damien showing love to Najee and then seeing so many former players on the sideline. Its great to see the brotherhood those guys share.

For sure. That's the best thing to see.

But Huddie and RCT were right about Hurts. He's a nice kid, good athlete, but a bad quarterback. At least at this level.
Once my cousin told me the chiefs are gonna make the playoffs. They had just come off a shitty season but just picked up Reid and Alex Smith. I said ok dude and just let it go but he acted like he predicted something incredibly impossible.
They ended up making the playoffs and he wanted me to admit it was a very bold prediction but I told him it was not really that crazy.
You was right but so was nearly every knowledgeable fan we have, they just didn’t broadcast it 24/7. Saban gave Tua a chance to grow and then at the perfect moment unleashed him. You wanted Hurts gone to start the season which is a move we will never know if it would have worked out, could have even screwed us if he got hurt, or give UGA more film to prepare for or maybe it starts a conflict with the team early on.
So congrats on being right. But you didn’t predict nothing crazy.

Wrong answer. If it was important enough to me I'd go back and find a few examples, earlier in the season, when I said I didn't think Tua was ready to be the starter but hoped he'd get more playing time to get that experience.
As for not predicting anything crazy, that's for damn sure. It looked to be so very apparent the whole time that I found it hard to fathom why those of you that called me wrong didn't see it too.
oh, and I don't expect anything. I'm just happy as all hell that Tagovailoa finally got his big chance, and right in the Nick of time.

I didn’t call you wrong on Hurts not being that good. I just thought you should lay off the guy because he’s a great dude. I know it’s a message board but damn you was obsessed for a point in time. Either way dude, I can’t believe this shite still, I hope you are all still on cloud nine from the win. Sorry we went back and fourth so much early on. But I naturally stand up for good people and I’ll never stop that.

But I never attacked the kid's character. That would have been goofy, since I don't even know him. Actually, he seems to be a good kid. I only thought he was not a good quarterback for Alabama and I still think that. It's not a crime or a sin. Compared to those things, it's kind of trivial, but it is a message board for Alabama sports, so I think it was in good context.
But it's all good. RTR

Honestly, this was as perfect a scenario for the switch to happen as possible.
Nobody could see what Jalen did the last 3 games, including specifically the 1st half, and think it was going to win the game. NOBODY.
Then, Tua comes in and lights the world on fire.
Like, Jalen is going to compete because he's a competitor, but even he would have to understand.
No strife, no nothing, guys play on the field did the talking and made the decisions. Tua doesn't go into next year with all the pressure of replacing Jalen and having to do great things all year, more specifically in a huge game (because stats early against bad teams won't really matter). He's already established the most ultimate of cred.
It was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

I think it would be as good a movie as "Rudy", and I liked that movie.
Storybook ending.
edit and yes I do edit a lot because I nearly always have more to say or to clarify. This time the clarification is to say it was a story book ending to the season. Now we have at least two more stories to look forward to and I am sure they will be blockbusters!

Saban is a genius and God is Good is all I can say lol
It really is impossible to believe how it all unfolded. I still hope Hurts sticks around. Where I don’t know but knowing he’s on our team makes me happy.

That's either some spectacular revisionist history, or we don't have a lot of knowledgeable fans. Most people argued vehemently that Jalen was a good QB/passer for almost two years. It wasn't until the Auburn game when it finally dawned on a lot of people that he was a liability. In fairness, some others started to come around a few games sooner.
It's over now. We don't have to keep bringing it up. But you sons of bitches that lambasted everyone for two years that pointed out his bad passing aren't going to pull this, "we knew all along he couldn't pass" bullshite.

Absolutely Huddie. These guys really treated us like shite all year and called us stupid while still telling us that Hurts was a good quarterback and not a problem. I knew from the FSU game and forward that he was really and truly a terrible quarterback. I found out that the majority of this board doesn't know much about the game of football because it couldn't have been more obvious that Hurts was no good. Some of these guys actually owe us an apology for how they treated us. I got a one week ban for saying Jalen was a below average quarterback. Of course we would have been better starting Tua game one. We almost won it all last year with a shitty true freshman so we would have been much.better off with 5 star phenom Tua even with freshman mistakes. Why would these dumbasses still argue with us when it was them who were wrong all year. Amazing really.

Hey now, not all of us did that. Most of us just thought/hoped that Jalen would improve and Tua was young and a risk (he was). I know there was some other "vitrol" during the discussion, but I think for the most part everybody just wanted to do what they thought was best.
Either way, by the time the Auburn game ended I think most agreed that if Jalen continued to sputter against Clemson and/or Oklahoma/Georgia, we had to go with the risk (Tua). We did, and shitefahr did he respond.
All happiness.

But some fans will steadfastly support every player, so I can kind of understand why some posters were pissed off. I know I am opinionated, and there were probably plenty of times I should have just laid off it.
