So what would y’all’s reasonable wishlist for Saturday be?

To win.
But if we cover the spread I would take it as a great sign that the team is growing and getting better.

- Just look in sync on offense (a similar look to Vanderbilt, though obviously things will be harder). No confusion, no late sprints up to the line, etc. Spread them out, make them decide how they want to guard that, then run or pass based on it. Run no-huddle tempo and then let Bryce decide at the line. We are so much smoother offensively when we do that.
- Defense make Jefferson consistently beat us on 3rd and 5+
- Don't give them anything for free (turnovers, stupid penalties, etc)
- Overall a focused, consistent effort for 40 minutes.
I think if we do all that stuff we win by 3 scores, but if we do all that stuff and win by 1 I'll be happy.

We've looked good outside of the texas game for the most part. But those opponents were just completely overmatched. We couldn't stop a pulse last year vs Arkansas and while they lost their best weapon I'd like to see a much improved product on that side of the ball. I honestly don't know what to expect offensively. If our wrs get locked up in this game we will need some serious changes going forward. I think we will win this one by a decent margin if nothing else but besides I don't think the crowd here will kill us. I think the Tennessee game will be a much bigger challenge in that front.

Last year was a culmination of injuries, inexperience, and a very mediocre OC. I think we've fixed 2 of the 3. And I suspect Saban has "suggested" some changes to the offense.

JMO but the days of Dominate a good opponent are ovah. The good teams with good coaching can now go to the portal and fix glaring problems within one cycle thus each week your schedule is much more difficult.
The team is going to have to play very well each week when playing a good team if they expect to win.
When dark comes tomorrow, we will know a lot more about our interior defensive line and inside linebackers. I am hopeful it will a positive story.

I don’t agree with this. Teams still dominate good teams on the road. We just don’t anymore which is more system based. We would dominate a lot more games if we ran an offensive system that didn’t depend on constant checks and audibles.

Thoughts? Feelings on this weekend?
5 of our last 6 true road games have been decided by 3 points are less.
Improvement for me, would be to develop some level of killer instinct and be able to maintain momentum on offense.
Not even looking for them to beat the spread, but be consistent enough on both sides of the ball that a 10-14 point win happens without late game heroics necessary.

Well said - 100% agree

If the WRs aren’t able to get open against this secondary, we are in trouble. Keep the crowd noise out by doing tempo. If we snap the ball with less than 5 seconds after getting to line with 20 seconds left, doing audibles a lot, there may be a remote in the tv tomorrow.
I’m not worried about the defense.

still think it takes elite QB play to beat Alabama.
Nick C. is no where close to elite and looked like Tom B. last year. I don’t think Bama has the elite cover guys it once had. I expect to see Arkie take advantage early and often.

I think he means Zach Calzada.
Maybe.
Maybe.

Have the OL open some holes for the running game and have the D play to the level they've been hyped to be.

Who is Nick C?
I think he might've been referring to former Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos, who had a crazy season last year, as there's a drive into deep left field by Castellanos and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 4-0 ballgame.

Their original segment name was “Cubelic’s a Rube”

On WJOX yesterday, Cole Cubelic predicted Arkansas would win (or at least, he said they should be favored by 1). He hosts a segment called "Rubik's Cubelic" that supposedly uses a variety of stats to predict the outcome.
He listed things like turnover margin, home field advantage, rushing offense and defense, and penalties. Turnovers and penalties were the glaring areas of deficiency for Alabama.
However, he neglected to discuss the passing game at all -- and Arkansas is amazingly bad at pass defense this year. I think Cole is usually pretty even-handed when it comes to discussing football, despite his Auburn roots, but that omission just stunned me.
Hog fan here, but Cubelic’s rationale makes no sense.
We’ve not been good in TO margin and have had some very dumb turnovers this season (including TWO fumbles on the goal line), and our defense — especially our tackling — has been atrocious. I’m also not sure I follow his logic regarding penalties. Bama’s not far off from Arkansas in terms of penalties per game, and even then their stats are skewed by the Texas game.
The omission of our pass defense is pretty glaring. Our biggest team weakness juxtaposed against arguably Bama’s biggest strength, no big deal right? We’re not just among the bottom of FBS, we’re statistically in the bottom 2% of pass defenses if you combine FBS, FCS, D2, D3, NAIA, etc.

This is a great opportunity to get some confidence in road games. If they don’t come out and throw all over Arkansas I’ll be disappointed

I believe Arkansas will play tough for awhile, but Bama has the better players across the board. Gibbs is a nightmare to plan for, I look for him to have a big game today.
For Arkansas… everything runs through your qb in which we all know. He’ll give everything he’s got today, but Bama defense has a lot of quickness and speed. Jefferson will not have time to set back and throw.
Not a blowout, but I’m thinking a 10 -14 pt win for Bama. That’s a respectful win playing a tough well coached Arkansas team in their house.
