Ga plays bama old school ball and wins 2 natties..maybe saban wants to go back to more ball control instead of quick strike constantly giving more possessions to opponents o

That’s way more about Defense than it is about Offense

point is more time of possession leads to better d numbers ...when golding was taking heat for the numbers. wasn't apples to apples. Pruitt numbers vs golding numbers..need more numbers on # of possession and points per possession

That's good news about Monken and the Bucs.

Keep an eye out on Shea Tierney for our OC. If the Bucs go with Monken over him (Tierney interviewed yesterday), then he becomes a real possibility for Bama.

Tierney would make some sense but had he ever been a play caller?

Why the hate for Jason Garrett? I don't follow the NFL too much, but he had success as an NFL OC, and was an NFL HC for quite a long time. I'm not advocating for him, especially since I don't think he has any college OC experience. But he seems to be universally disdained by most fans.

His only “good” years as an OC were more than a decade ago.

Did anyone hear McElroy and Cubelic mention Kitchens was in town recently?

He hasn’t been a play caller. But…

If we’re picking from pro-style QB coaches, then I’d much rather give Tierney a chance. We’ve seen Brian Johnson and Joe Brady call offenses. I wasn’t impressed.

Saban at least saw potential in Tierney when he hired him in 2016. And if the opportunity presents itself, Daboll will be quick to tell Tierney that Bama is the perfect stepping stone for a QB Coach who expects more of himself.

Monken to the Bucs is a good news/bad news situation. The good news is he’s out of Athens and out of the SEC. The bad news is UGA/Kirby will be fishing in the same pond we are for an OC.

ETA: And if we’re being completely honest, UGA is the shiny, new Lambo with the 2 latest trophies in the case while Alabama looks like last year’s model that isn’t quite as attractive as it used to be. Gotta turn that around but it is what it is right now.

What’s Urban Meyer up to these days? I’d take him over several on that “candidates” list!

Really? Do you not know his history? Plus he just stated yesterday he is done with coaching. His wife agreed with that statement

I didn't hear that, so I don't know the context. But, you have to imagine that the expectations of the fans and pressure of following Saban is a real factor for some top choices.

I'd really like to ask Saban how he perceives the state of college OCs. I wonder if he feels there is a "brain drain" among college OCs b/c offense is so in demand now that many elite OCs are head coaches. I say that to say Saban may perceive a young NFL guy to be a better option.
