Now keep in mind that DeBoer gave Grubb a pay raise in November to would have paid him $1.45 million, $1.55 million and $1.67 million over the next three years. Then Texas A&M came snooping around, so DeBoer gave him another raise to $2 mil at the end of December. If I was DeBoer I'd be a little pissed that I just gave him back to back raises and he is still flying to Tuscaloosa for an interview.

A couple of successful years as the OC at Alabama and he's going to get calls from several big time programs with HC openings. A couple more successful years as the OC at Washington and he's going to get calls from some upper tier G-5 programs and some middling P-5 programs. It sucks for Washington, but anyone looking to quickly advance his career is going to listen if Saban calls about an open coordinator position.

Penix is a legit Heisman contender.

I admittedly haven't watched much of him. I pulled up his highlights on youtube, and a lot of balls that were big plays or TDs would have been picked in the SEC. Take that with a grain of salt, as it is a small sample size.

I'm unsure of what you are asking? Because I said I don't see his PAC success translating to the SEC? I literally prefaced it by saying to take it with a grain of salt. I am a nobody that played a lot of ball and has coached little league teams. My opinion is just that.

DeBoer is a stud offensive mind and QB coach. He can get by without Grubb. DeBoer, if he keeps it up, should be on the shortlist here once Saban retires. Look up what DeBoer did at Indiana, Fresno State and now Washington.

DeBoer knows his guy is hot so the big programs will come calling. If successful here Grubb will be a head coach at a P5 very soon.

What Grubb has done with Penix Jr and that Washington offense is nothing short of amazing.

The Washington offense is AGGRESSIVE. They don't let up. I took a lot of heat around here by saying how Penix is better than Bryce, their WRs are better than ours but are far less talented, etc. But, I've been watching DeBoer for years and Washington this past season. That is a dynamic and balanced offense that's sound fundamentally.

Shaft, you’re totally right about DeBoer. He would be a fantastic hire

Guys go watch some Washington games on YouTube. That team is playing high quality football. I love the direction Saban is trying to go.

No you didn't. You took heat for saying Bryce would be a worse NFL player and prospect than guys like Van Dyke at Miami.

Penix was phenomenal this season and their offense is great. Grubb would be an A+ hire.

LOL don't try it now. I'm being vindicated by Saban himself.

Washington threw the ball a lot, but they were also in the Top 20 in power rush stats..........which means when they needed to run it and the other team knew they needed to run it........they still ran it successfully.

Power Success Rate
#15 Washington (77.6%)
#74 Alabama (66.7%)

Stuff Rate Allowed
#21 Washington (14.2%)
#60 Alabama (17.5%)

#2 in offensive efficiency
#2 in touchdown rate
#2 in value drive added
#7 in bad drive rate

I still stick by that about Van Dyke. I mean that. Mario and Gattis screwed Van Dyke this past season. Van Dyke can play.
