I’m hoping Walters and Dioubate can contribute early and hold up in the post. I’m fine with Pringle bring our only 5 because he can rebound like no other. Having a team with all five guys running can be a nightmare for teams.

That would be a disaster the first time he got into foul trouble.

Fortunately for us we have a system that kids want to play in because it helps get them NBA ready and Oats/staff have done a great job of recruiting. We don't have the biggest NIL bag, even in our own conference, but when you pair the system, coaching staff, and a few bucks for a player that's tough to beat compared to just throwing cash out for someone.

This is definitely a unique recruitment at this stage.

Flight delay last night but did make it to Tuscaloosa late. Told last night went well but today will obviously be the big day to make an impression and lay out a plan for him. Our staff is very optimistic and we have some advantages on our side. But Arkansas does too..mainly $$.

Surely the guys on a team have some idea of what the pay scale pecking order is and if a new guy comes in getting money that's out of line with where he fits in the order that could create serious attitude issues.

- This won't come in much in the way of breaking news but the feedback from Grant Nelson - North Dakota State Bison - PF (on3.com) visit so far has been very positive. Talked to one source near Nelson's recruitment who said Oats and staff are rolling out the red carpet (as expected) but also the players are actively involved. Still early in the visit but it's off to a good start. One additional source told us that those close to Nelson believe Alabama offers two important things: the right fit and heavy playing time opportunity. I'm told both of those are huge for Nelson. As we noted earlier in the week, Baylor is out. As of last night, the Arkansas vist was still on, but we are keeping our ear to the ground. He hopes to have a decision soon after those two visits.

Good to hear how important fit/playing time is to Nelson. Going to have to have everyone's twitter notifications on this weekend while watching baseball.

Awesome, sounds positive. Good to hear that fit and playing time are important factors to him.

Just have to hope money is not the deciding factor.

I swear, if this dude manages to show up on campus and starts playing like this, I may just cream every pair of jeans I own.

With that athleticism, is he also a strong defender?

He was on his conference's all defensive team last year, so at that level he was.

Punishing driver and mismatch offensively.

Defensively, he's a big presence (6'11” 235) potential rim protector with a ton of blocks, but I think one of his knocks was moving and adjusting in tight areas.

In that regard, he seems to be vulnerable to straight-line drives, and gets out of position as a helper (chases).

So, no — I wouldn't say "strong," but he's certainly got the potential to improve just based on his aforementioned athleticism.

I think this may play a huge role here. When I was at the spring football game, I noticed a group of players walking across the quad with one of the guard transfers on his visit (think it was Wrightsell). The group included Pringle and Griffen, but also Miller, who I'll bet is actively involved in Nelson's visit as well (the dude bleeds Bama).

So on one visit, you've got a likely #2 draft pick recruiting for his team even though he's not going to be there next year. On the other hand you've got Jordan Walsh with this nugget:
quote:

“Once I got out of Arkansas, I’m now in a position where I don’t have handcuffs on me. I’m able to shoot and make plays for people. I have that flexibility to show that I can do all those things. I was stuck in a role, but now they’ll see the real Jordan.”
