They do CBs for the portal too now don't they?
Much less than for traditional recruiting, but yeah some do.

2021 6'9 F Langston Wilson - GA Highlands LINK via @YouTube
This is from last year, but he’s done more of the same this season.
If this doesn’t get Alabama fans excited idk what does. @Langston3491 is a freak athlete & for being 6’9 runs the floor smoothly.

There’s some things you can’t teach, like pure athleticism & Wilson has it. There’s strides to make to become a complete offensive player, but if anyone can help that it’s Nate Oats.
quote:
When I say freak athlete that’s an understatement. He’s got generational athletic ability. Wilson’s vertical is 46 inches. That would rank top five all-time in NBA HISTORY.
He’s going to be a dangerous player for Alabama. If you don’t know the name Langston Wilson, learn it now

Ideally I think you want about a 50/50 split between one and dones/JuCos/transfers and the kind of high school kids who will be 3-4 year college players. The latter are the backbone of practically every elite program in the country besides Kentucky and, to a lesser extent, Duke. If that's all you recruit in the era of the portal you're going to quickly find yourself with a roster full of young, developmental players or be perpetually shorthanded because of unused scholarships. To get old and stay old you have to supplement your roster with JuCos and transfers.
Since I brought up Musselman up earlier (he is sort of a transfer portal hawk obviously), he did have a pretty damn good freshmen class this year - and not just Moody. Devonta Davis was one of their best players by the end of the year, Williams is pretty good.
It's not like you can't do a bit of both.

Yeah that's bordering on Jordan territory. If it's legit and he can do that at 6'9" then he'd be arguably the greatest leaper in basketball history.

We're going to be stupid deep next season.
JD
JQ
Primo
Shack
Ellis
Gary
Wilson
Alex T
Bediako
Holt
Hell that's enough. Can't bring in too many guys unless we plan on scoring 120 a game.
ETA: If we bring in Burnett we will be a solid 10 deep

Wilson and JD may be reminiscent of the old competition between Wallace and Grizzard for who could have the most dunks in a season (it was Wallace, by the way).

The following year will be interesting since we will possibly lose the top five players on that list. Replacing all of your guards is not a fun proposition.
As it stands now, our best opportunity to win it all is this next season.

Who says this young man has to develop offensively? He can shoot the three has a good touch it seems to me and some post moves to boot. Runs the floor very well and can leap out of the gym.
Frentchy can shoot the basketball from the perimeter, move and you can't teach size. Bediako can run the floor and has size too. Gary can get in the weight room get even stronger and play a role much like Vital did for Baylor, he plays much bigger than he is. With KAH we are set for bigs and should be BETTER there. We have rim protectors!

I mean pretty much any college player, much less a JuCo kid or a high schooler, needs development on offense to some degree. If you're signing kids who are already maxed out on that end you need to re-evaluate your recruiting strategy.

Arizona just fired Sean Miller. Another blue blood opening but that doesn’t bode well for the program regarding the NCAA case. shite finna get real.

Gotta be a little concerning for the remaining schools dealing with the FBI case.
Or everyone will just fight the battle and dare the NCAA to do something

Somebody needs to start a troll thread on the rant with this. Call out LSU for having no morals

This is probably what Arizona is going to continue doing. They have known about Miller's activities for a long time now and did nothing about it. They're firing him because they were pretty bad for a 3rd consecutive season and he can't spend his way out of it on the recruiting trail with the NCAA lodged up his arse.
