The May 1st transfer deadline and 48-hour window for schools to enter athletes into the portal has passed.

Let's be honest, at this point we're going to convince ourselves that whoever we get was a good signing. Even if it's one of the D2 guys we talked to, we're all going to talk ourselves into him being more than a glorified walk on at the end of the bench.

Agreed, however I really do think the last couple of guys we’ve been linked with would actually help the team next year. Not game changers by any means, but solid additions.

Oh I completely agree. If we were to sign literally any two of Lucas, Council, and Jones it'd make us a better team. Hell, just one of them would make us better because as we have been discussing, they all excel at one or more things that we were very poor at last season. The lack of any news at all about Lucas even after he spent the weekend in Tuscaloosa and the fact that Council is visiting Arkansas first doesn't give me a good feeling on those two though.

That's all we can hope for. Just going to have to hope this freshmen class is the real deal and Q is back at some point stronger than ever. Hoping Burnett takes that step towards being a star and we need Chuck to step up.
I assumed we weren't hitting on big transfers because of the way our roster looks and the incoming studs but that's not stopping the Hogs.

My favorites would be Council and Jones so that we could hedge the height we give up with Sears and Quinerly (when he comes back). I also like the mix of having a 2 year guy that can kill it from deep and a 3 year guy that can develop while he's here, but has some defensive shops, length, athleticism, and potential as a shooter.
Council would make Miles prove he deserves minutes and Jones would be the sharp shooter we need either starting or the first shooting guard off the bench.
Getting Council would make not getting Bridges not that big of a deal after all. We'll just wait and see I guess...

I fully expect us to get two high level basketball players. Our basketball coverage is dogshit we’re not just doing nothing. We would not convince ourselves d2 players are great, if anything the continued trend of complaints would follow.

I would take Jones over Lucas as well because 1. I think Jones would be more accepting of a slightly lesser role and 2. He's a bit bigger and as you said, it'd be nice to get a big 3pt shooter to mitigate the small backcourt.
My main concern with Jones is if he cares more about academics than another season playing basketball at a higher level, he's going to choose Stanford or NW over us.

Yeah I think that's the main question for sure. I think we're the obvious choice if he determines that he cares more about a good school and great basketball than a great school and good basketball, but that'll be for him to determine.

247 final transfer portal rankings. Sears at 29.
Sears is top 10 on CBS rankings and about #13 on ESPN.

Yeah, 247's portal rankings seem WAY off. Having Akot that low and not having Council in their top 100 at all given the numbers that some of the guys listed higher than them have put up seems like way too much projection on their part.

Joseph Hastings (BamaOn3) posted an update on Lucas:
-A decision could be coming in the next 24-48 hours
-Bama and Nevada are the frontrunners

He used the words “could be” in the next 24-48 hours so I’m sure it’ll be another 2 weeks and then he can claim he was never wrong
