Andrew Slater just shot down the idea of Bates going to Bama. Said "absolutely not" in his tweet and I think he was hinting at Michigan St for him.

So, yeah, let's hope we can land Bridges by the end of the week.

Not to bring up the Barn but is anyone else kind of shock Bruce isn’t being more aggresive for some Guards in the portal? I feel like they don’t have any consistent shooting on their roster. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to go into a season with Wendell Green, KD Johnson, and Zep Jasper as your 3 main guards. Wendell and KD shot them out of multiple games at the end of the season

Diva aau stars don’t seem like Oats’ kinda guy anyway.

I also feel very confident on Bridges, we’ve rolled out the red carpet and it’s not like he’s a 5 star national recruit, just a very serviceable player for what we do

we're looking at having very little P-6 playing experience on the roster next year.

I agree, though Duke made the Final Four playing 5 freshmen in essentially a 7 man rotation. We did not sign five first rounders like Duke, but maybe two. I don't think we have any dead weight on this roster of 11 (with Quinerly) like last year when Ambrose Hilton and Tchikou spent the year on the bench, with a hurt Burnett, and since the portal has become so open, I doubt Oats or many other coaches will take freshmen or anybody else to develop over three years or so. You get 4/5 star freshmen who can play now, or go to the portal for guys who can play now. That seems to be what we (and others) are doing. In short, if we don't get somebody really great in the portal soon, we may hold on until at after May transfer deadline or June NBA deadline.

I'm confident in Bridges as well, he would lock down a starting spot immediately. Off the top of my head, I think Baylor has quite a few wings that provide serviceable minutes that are returning.

I think I agree with everyone here that it would be nice to get that knocked out this week and then go grab a shooter. At that point, our roster will be rounding out quite well.

He's deciding between Bama, Baylor, Michigan St, and Ohio State. That's pretty national and all are high caliber programs. Historically, we're actually the least successful amongst that group. So, he may not be an official 5 star, but he's definitely a top recruit. Forget the stars, look at the offers.

Yeah and Baylor can show him a national championship trophy from last year and they get last crack at him. Hopeful we can land him though

I really hope we're beating down the door for Antoine Davis. We need a shot-maker, and he's the definition of it. He may not be interested with the PGs we have on the roster, but I'd make sure that it's not because of effort that we won't land him.

It would be pretty silly to not go hard after a 24 PPG Alabama basketball legacy because we have two and a half PGs.

You’ve got to be very naive if you think all of those schools are giving him the full court press like we are. You said it in your post, those more successful schools don’t have to go all out for transfer portal #20.

Not a knock on Bridges, but he isn’t a national priority recruit at all. He’s a very solid player and will be a huge upgrade for us at the 4/switchable small ball 5. A feature starter in our system, more of a role player for Baylor or Sparty.

I think a couple of their assistants leaving probably had something to do with it. Would be nice to get consideration again but I doubt he comes with Sears here.

The serial downvoter on this board is just funny.

I’m still concerned about the collective expectations for next season, and for Oats’ program in general. IMHO, we somewhat overachieved in the championship year and may have caused us to expect too much going forward.

What’s the over/under on a successful season for next year? I’m leaning top 3-4 in SEC, top 6ish seed (preferably a 5 or better), and a run to the sweet 16. I’ll be slightly disappointed if we lose a competitive round of 32 game, but given the inexperience we’ll have it wouldn’t be surprising. Anything better than that is just a bonus for me. Given our last 20yrs of history, I’m glad my expectations are even that high.

DePaul guard David Jones will enter the transfer portal.

Jones was DePaul's second leading scorer this past season averaging 14.5PPG/7.4RPG/2.4APG/1.7SPG.

Jones is an extremely versatile two-way wing and immediately becomes one of the best players in the portal. HUGE news.

Jones is 6'6, shot 29.7% from 3, didn't draw many fouls. Good block and steal numbers and very good defensive rebounding numbers.

69% FT shooter (79% vs top 100 teams).

Really high usage rate, took a lot of shots.

Certainly seems like a possible Option B if we lose out on Bridges.

Surprised that Kermit was able to sign such a good class considering he's coming off a second losing season in 3 years.

Also, I honestly have no idea how Musselman is able to sign both a top 2 recruiting class and a top portal class. Like, y'all realize a bunch of you are going to ride the bench next year right?
