as a scorer.

He gets to the line over twice as much as Shack. He can shoot the ball. In our system, he would shoot more 3pt. He would also be much better at the dribble drive than Shack which we need greatly in our offense.
But you are correct, you can say that we don't have a big volume number on his 3pt shooting.

What's everybody's top 3 wish list as of right now?

Here's mine (being somewhat realistic)...

1. Antonio Reeves
2. Mark Sears (purely anticipatory)
3. Jalen Bridges

1. Holt to transfer
2. Find out if Gurley counts against our scholarship number or not
3. Load the boat with talented transfers and dominate next year.

Do you think they will wait till after NBA teams grade players (last year a bunch came back and some made themselves available) till they make decisions on transfers?

I know the portal experience is still relatively new, but how much success has any team had with bringing in mid-major talent?

I have no doubt I’m overlooking someone obvious, but it seems like most of the more successful transfers came from power 5 conferences.

The Athletic Available Player Rankings

quote:

13. Jalen Bridges | 6-7 wing | sophomore | West Virginia

Bridges was essentially a two-year starter for West Virginia, a 6-foot-7 combo forward who could step out and shoot it, get out in transition, and switch a bit defensively. Unsurprisingly given those tools, NBA scouts had started to take notice of him coming into the year following an All-Freshman Big-12 campaign in 2021. Alas, he took a bit of a step back this season, averaging just eight points and five rebounds with a real reduction in efficiency despite a significant increase in minutes. He has kind of a high, boxed-off shot that displays some touch, but results in inconsistency as he made just 32 percent from 3 this season after making 40 percent as a freshman. Out in transition, if you give him some space he can attack and really leap into dunks. He’s not a shot creator, but a smart coach that runs a well-spaced high-ball-screen scheme on offense and a switching defensive scheme will get a quality high-major starter here that brings defensive energy and versatility as well as spot-up capabilities on offense to play off of those screen-and-roll guards.

So, that sounds like a nice lil fit.

quote:

16. Antonio Reeves | 6-5 wing | junior | Illinois State

If you’re looking for scoring, scoring, and more scoring, Reeves might be the perfect player for you. He averaged 20.1 points per game in the Missouri Valley this year on his way to winning second-team all-conference honors as well as the league’s Most Improved Player award. Above all, he’s a pull-up maestro, capable of getting his shot from wherever on the floor at just about any time. He finished second in the conference behind Isiaih Mosley from Missouri State in scoring, hitting pull-up jumpers at a 51.4 effective field goal percentage, a very high number given his volume of shots. Among the 227 players nationally to take at least 100 pull-up jumpers, Reeves finished 19th in his efficiency in terms of making them, per Synergy. And yet, there’s a reason he only made second-team all-league despite those numbers. The rest of his game is a real work in progress. He has a long way to go as a passer and playmaker for others, and his defense leaves something to be desired. There is some question how scalable his game is to high-major situations where he’s just a piece of the puzzle. Still, my bet is a good high-major takes a shot on him and sees if those parts of his game can improve. The scoring is lethal enough to take such an informed bet.

Arkansas had a really nice mesh of mid major and high major transfers.

Reeves may be a potential upgrade from Shack if he can remain efficient without dominating the ball, which sounds like the big question mark with him. The meh defense and lack of facilitation skills remain but the athleticism goes way up.

Bridges sounds like a copy of Ellis, to echo what someone said earlier.

Former Alabama Basketball Player, Assistant Coach, Tommy Suitts Passes Away (SI)

The player and coach under C.M. Newton became a head coach at Rice and Chicago State, and was a basketball ambassador throughout the state of Alabama.

Probably should include Jaelin Llewelyn since we are recruiting him hard, he just had a long visit, our other signees are talking with him, and he is a former top 100 player and experienced point guard, our primary need. It looks like he is on our coaches’ wish list.

Because I’m hopeful we could bring in a transfer who would offer a lot more than he could. With the way the portal is, I don’t think you should wait very long to see what a player can give you.

Holt is not in the transfer portal. May be later, but not so far.

Why the hell did Nick Smith have to be born in Arkansas? If he is born in any of the other 49 states he is ours

I've actually been more impressed with Black.

These guards Miller gets to play with...
