I don't see how there is any straightfaced argument that JD was, over the course of the full season, a net positive contributor for us. If we had any other options to handle the ball after JQ I don't think he'd have played 10 minutes a game.

Yep George, exactly same points i made in my post. I dont know what a kid can do leadership wise if he cant be on the floor. Some people's logic doesnt add up .

I think Rojas is another example of that. From Oats comments and just watching him, I'm guessing he tried to be a leader. But it's really hard to be the leader that pulls a team in a direction when you play 9 minutes a game.
Your team reflects the attitude of your main guys. Not necessarily the "best" player, but certainly the experienced guys who also play a key roll on the floor. And we just seemed to have a bunch of guys who were kind of passive.

"Hows that disturbing? Pretty easy to understand... U do something wrong the S&C conditioning coach is gonna have u running the arena steps or something grueling in weightroom until u puke."
It wouldn't be if we did not display an extreme level of undiscipline. Maybe you can imagine this scenario, but I can't: Nick Saban lamenting Scott Cochran leaving the program because he handled the discipline. I believe Nick Saban "handles" the discipline. He may not be standing there when it is carried out, but he decides who needs to be disciplined. Oats appears to struggle mightily with this aspect of coaching.

Just being honest here Joka….I don’t want JD back. I’d rather roll with Bradley and a Portal guy.
I didn’t expect JD to be Colin but I fully expected him to be as productive as Chandler and Washington and he wasn’t even close to them.

Composite five-star guard Marvel Allen discusses his re-opened recruitment
This past weekend, composite five-star guard Marvel Allen announced his decommitment from the LSU Tigers men's basketball program. Allen is one of three prospects who have backed out of their commitments to LSU so far but the recemt change in status has not caused any halt or shift in his mindset towards the game.
"It has been going good so far," Allen said on his re-opened recruitment. "I am just in the lab trying to get better. I still have the same focus and same drive I had before I de-committed."
Since his announcement, Allen says Arkansas, Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Ohio State, and Penn State are the programs that have reached out to him thus far. He also told 247Sports that he plans on taking three official visits this summer.
As of now, he is unsure of which programs he will visit but he is open to all schools recruiting him and is searching for a program where he will play early and a coaching staff that will value him on and off the court.
"I am looking for a staff who will have a good relationship with me and my parents by talking with us on a consistent basis," Allen said. "I want to play right away in a system and be an impact player. I want a place that will prepare me for the league."
A 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-way lead guard out of West Palm Beach (Fl.) Allen is ranked the No. 18 overall prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He dribbles the ball around not knowing what to do with it killing the shot clock, drives into the paint and still doesn't know what to do with it, then usually throws a bad pass.
Sometimes I don't have a clue what he sees, because there's nothing there but guys in the wrong color jersey.
Given a year he might develop, but he has a long way to go and someone has to work with him.

McMahon has led the Racers to a 154-67 record since 2015 and has made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

McMahon is probably about as good as they could hope for given their NCAA issues. Falls into that "won at a mid-major that always wins" category, so kind of a toss up.

I'll always wonder what the Alex Tchikou story was..his high school highlights were pretty exciting he had game.
Better than some that logged a lot of minutes. He could shoot threes and you can't teach 6'11 230 plus.
There was a decision made not to use him no matter what, it was insulting late in the year when the walk ons got in and he still sat.

I want JD back so he can improve and lead the team to a better finish next year.
But if I’m JDs advisor and he gets a first round grade, I’d advise him to enter the draft.
If he’s as good as his draft grade, he’s young and can make up late round vs lottery draft money over time. If not, at least he got paid more than most.
If it doesn’t work for him at UA next year, that could be disastrous for his immediate future.

I just dont see the explosive quickness required to play college bball. Thats also the primary problem with his defense. You need extremely quick feet to an effective point guard in college.

Who all are you expecting to return as of now?
What makes me very nervous for both Bama / Auburn is that both teams seem to be at their best when shooting 3FG at a high volume and high %. Both Bama / AU were ranked > 250 nationally in 3FG% and losing at least one of their best shooters.
I was hoping the entire state of AL would become known for playing 3FG threats at all 5 positions, running small athletic lineups up and down the floor.

Fair point ... However this was firsr year oats had any kind of discipline issues within the team, probably didnt handle it as well as he should have.

Just a reminder that Torvik has a great database in which you can look at players in the transfer portal by 1,000 different stats and break them down by level of competition. They update the list of kids in the portal quite frequently, too.

I think his inexperience with big time college basketball probably showed the most this season. The biggest difference in this level and Buffalo (or obviously high school) is dealing with kids who are a little more entitled/less chip on their shoulder types, as well as the ability to adjust when opponents have time to figure you out.
Not sure we did a great job with either of those this year, and it was probably a pretty big learning experience for him and the staff.

SOG...who wasn't obliterated defensively on our team besides Ellis and at times he was. I start to worry at times about you SOG like I understand we don't agree on certain things but for you to flat out say JD just STUNK this season is just crazy. He wasn't consistent by no means but did he flat out stink? HECK NO! Did he turn the ball over a lot as a Freshman? Yes, he did. Can he improve in that area? Yes, he can!
I remember when similar things was said about Kira...Do you remember his mom having to defend her son after games because he struggled as Freshman?
I'm realest and I speak facts...you said he stunk and that's your opinion. I don't think he was good to great as Freshman that's exactly why I want him to come back so he can become that.
I'm a leave this with you though...
Miami- 13 Pts, 10 Ast, & 6 Rebs
Gonzaga- 20 Pts, 3 Ast, & 5 Rebs
Houston- 10 Pts, 2 Ast, & 9 Rebs
Baylor- 14 Pts, 5 Ast, & 4 Rebs
Notre Dame- 11 Pts, 9 Ast, & 3 Rebs
Did JD turn the ball over a lot in this high tempo offense? YES he did and there's no denying that. Was he consistent? HECK NO by no means. But did JD STINK? Just look up and there's your answer!
I believe Nate Oats and company can get him to play consistently with an extra year in the system.
Neither of those players mentioned can do the things Jerdarrin Davison capable of.
Btw two of them wasn't consistent either just saying!
