I’m really high on Bethea. I kinda expect him to make the sort of jump that Biz did coming into the Oats offense with more playmaking freedom and space.

I’ll do you one better. I expect him to be a borderline lottery guy next year.

What are Williamson’s shortcomings, and how far does he have to go? The word when he first signed was that his D and rebounding were not high level.

Alabama needs him to be at least adequate. Only 3 legit bigs even with him being playable. Be great to get one more big to fill the13th slot, which might turn into the 8th or 9th slot.

I think he is struggling with pace and isn’t in the physical shape needed.

It’s definitely gonna be a challenge for him to step up to this level of competition. He has size and that’s what we need him for. Just hope oats can sign one more quality post guy. Don’t have to be much of a scorer but a rim protecting-rebounding big.

Just going off his highlight videos, seems to be a guy more comfortable in a half court style/setting. He’s skilled though so hopefully he will adjust. Plus the level of athleticism he was seeing at Bucknell is much different than what he’s seeing now. I’m sure it will take time to adapt.

Best thing for him (and us) is he stays injury free so he’s got 5 months to fully acclimate.

Only question for me is who replaces big Nelly as the bust arse hustle guy who gets everyone pumped up with his enthusiasm, energy and effort?

My dark horse pick is Houston Mallette. While a very small sample I absolutely loved how he looked in his minutes. He has an absolutely gorgeous stroke, and he hustled to every single loose ball. Again, limited minutes. But his effort and hustle was impressive as hell.

Very good observations - saw the same. His energy was infectious and was a totally unselfish team player. Really looking forward to watching him play and pulling for him. As you noted, he has a good shot.

Mallette can be a lot like CBM from Auburn, just hopefully without all the dumb shite.

Sherrell is probably the key to this upcoming team's trajectory imo.

He's gonna have to become a dog on the boards and we're going to need him to hit 3s and take his man off the dribble.

I know, frick that guy. But he was a good piece for Auburn. Mallette is 6'5 and dumbass is 6'7. And both guys are old by NCAA standards.

Love you, coach. But you're moving a white piece when your king is in checkmate.

Is Sherrell going to morph into what we thought we might've had with Tchikou?

You love to see it.
